Description
Here's a breakdown of the process I used when illustrating an original character (well, not that original, super stereotypical).Let me know if you want any sort of clarification or further explanation on something.

Great tutorial, very useful
Ive found that whenever I try and attempt characters, I always give up mid way through the grayscale rendering stage. I seem to spend a lot of time on the lines and rendering the forms, but it takes agggees as im having to continuously paint over the lines and trying to regain or develop depth. Is there anything you can advise to help me speed up the process and get to the point of finishing a character?
Thanks man, love your work

What do you use for coloring? Photoshop? If anything, the brush effect....how do get to it since I really want to try it out. Thanks in advance.

Hey! I use photoshop. It just comes from practice! Lots of it! Have you looked at my other tutorials? They might help a little more.

Question about the first phase, when you're doing the sketch do you have any idea what you are drawing? For example, do you have an idea in terms of the perspective or pose in your head before you start drawing? If you are truly just doodling, how do you consistently get good results, is it just practice?

Hey! This was an assignment for class, so I had to present an idea for my character before starting the drawing. I had a pretty good picture in my head about what I wanted to draw. I can't remember on this one if I used a perspective grid during the sketch or not, but I'm always thinking about the pose and perspective while sketching. I didn't want anything too flashy, just something simple to present a character. In terms of design details on the costume, those are things I just randomly picked from the scribbles. And yes, getting consistently good results will only come from practice Practice, and enough confidence to push through the rough stages of a work and finish it.

Thanks man! Glad you like it haha. Don't be fooled by the small number of steps, it took me quite some time to figure everything out and push it to a finish I was happy with.
