But if he's simply a man fulfilling the office he will only appear as a skeleton to those who's souls hes collecting. To everyone else he looks like anyone else who would be in that place at that time

It's from a book I read.
This OC was based off the concept given for the immortal known as Death.
Where as the person who was next to become Death killed Death. They look the same while not wearing the clothes and when they are wearing the clothes they appear like a normal person to be in the situation. If you are dying you see him as a skeleton.

Swift: I was sick for a long time yet I wouldnt die. I took a knife to my throat hoping in a crazed moment to end my pain when my predecessor walked in. I threw the knife and it caught him in the face killing him. In killing Death I must become Death.

Death: I see. Ironic in a way that you became death by creating death.

Death: Caius isn't blood related. He was just a baby when he died. I took him in and raised him as a son.

Swift: I try not to interact with my clients after I collect them. I do try to make their deaths as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Death: We may be reapers. But sometimes emotions help. I'd probably have gone insane if I hadn't met Caius. Lack of emotion makes us cold and heartless. We would simply send everyone to hell for the smallest things if that happened.

Swift: I lost my emotion when I was called to collect the souls of my niece only to learn it was my younger brother killed her.

Death: I see. Caius is the only one who was ever like family to me. He was so young when he died too.

Swift: SOmetimes I hope that my station will be handed off.

Death: We are reapers. Are job is too important to just be handed off.

Swift: *Tilts his head* Your system must be different than mine. Every so often the current Death begins to slip up. When that happens Fate arranges for a successor to slay us when we are at our weakest. Our killer takes on the position of Death and the cycle continues. I have been at this for a thousand years now.
