somehow found this old/rare VHS of Fantastic Adventures of Unico and we watched it twice, noticing the second time around that Sanrio had their name all over it. Tezuka is some kind of storybook GOD...even for a kid's movie, this was just amazing.

This was a cute movie. I liked Katy/Chao. She reminds me of a cat I used to have as a kid, well minus the getting turned into a human and having a demon person guy get her drunk to do who knows what to her.
I heard in the manga she got a boyfriend. I think it would be cute if Unico ran into a child or grandchild of her's. Though he probably wouldn't remember Katy if going by the movie's ending.

I'm a big fan of Osamu Tezuka's works and I especially love Unico and the two movies he was in. Both are incredibly adorable, but at the same time they have a real serious, mature factor to them. I would so get plushes of each character, especially a life-size one of Unico. I seriously think Unico deserves more love among Tezuka's many creations.

Oh, this is the best comment ever. Thank you! <3 I couldn't agree more!! It's a shame how under appreciated Unico is! I find that Tezuka's work usually has a serious or adult kind of tone to it or relates a lot back to war, but that's why we love him so much. He's realistic about telling a good story and characters always die off - just like in real life - but someone comes and takes their place. I heard they were working on an epic Buddha movie but it's pretty mysterious so far. Trailer: [link]
Buddha being the first of his mangas that I ever read, I am pretty excited for it! I'd love to see them do a live action Blackjack too but...I'm afraid hollywood would poop all over it.

Beezle the Devil had a big bloated tummy, and Katy the Kitty cat had a normal thin tummy too.

smashed himself into a lot of pieces.

I started watching the first episode. I want a plushie of him to hug! I think it'd be fun to see a remake of this-or just a remake enough to brighten up the color. Oh, just hearing his voice makes me want to squeeze him to make him feel better. As for the picture I think it's really cute. I really like that cat, but I like cats by default

I looooove Katy the Kitty Witch. I've had her song stuck in my head for like three days now. I would get plushies of them all if they existed! Though maybe they do and I'm not looking hard enough. I just love the serious tone of the cartoon with the innocence of all the characters (except the rapist forest devil at the end :/). It's intended for children but it doesn't baby you through the movies like most modern kid's cartoons.

Indeed, for some reason "serious situations + innocent characters = masterpiece!" Maybe deep inside, we're all like innocent Unico and can relate to him and his troubles, or at least, feel sorry for his predicament.

Blackjacks one of my favorites!! XD Fortunately there's an adorable and awesome show! When you have a sec, check it out. I'm sure you'll get into it if you like a good story and anime. This version is the 'friendlier' one, as there is a show called BlackJack 21 that's a bit darker and bloodier.
