Description Another commission from a fellow DA'er. He asks artists (BIG name pros) to draw their rendition of a dancing girl, and he was cool enough to ask me, far from an industry pro, to not only draw a dancing girl, but my character Zombie Chick as a dancing girl. It was a lot of fun, and still allowed me to stay true to her character, since I've always envisioned her as a dancer, which I'll probably tackle at some point in the future in my comics.

A Pitt brush-marker. I really like the line variations I can get with it.

i dont have many good art stores around me so i dont really know where to get any good supplies, but maybe i could go on a website or soemthing, because thats the kind of thing i was to get into.

Nope, I only use Photoshop to color my stuff, and as you can see, this piece is all black and white. I buy my markers from Hobby Lobby, a national arts and crafts chain that has to have a website where you could order Pitt brand markers. I also use Micron Pigma markers and Sharpie markers when the line requires it. You could also check out Michaels, another arts and crafts chain, which again, I'm sure has a website. Good luck!

Wow, fantastic inking, Jay. You normally don't put that amount of detail in your cartoons, and this is just beautiful. You know me, the more ink the better!

When I know I'm gonna have to color a cartoon in Photoshop, I tend to leave out any cross hatching and little lines like that so that it's easier to drop the color onto the characters. But when I know it'll be a black and white piece like this, I can go for broke on squiggly little details because there'll be no color to interfere with it. Check out my latest Dead Duck story (his origin story, no less) when I'm fone with it to see a perfect example of squiggly little detail coming out my characters' pores!

I can just hear this generic 80s dance music in my head looking at this. Great stuff.
Her outfit reminded me of slave Leia from ROTJ for some reason or another.

That's a good point. I haven't actually considered whether or not she'd eat brains or not...note to self: must explore this topic further in comics! Thanks for the idea!

JayFosgitt In reply to CurseReaper [2007-04-10 01:47:33 +0000 UTC]

I have no doubt that Zombie Chick would appreciate the comment. Of course, she'd probably say something like, "Being hot is nice but dangerous, because I'm a chicken, and when I'm home at late night watching Diff'rent Strokes reruns I've been getting obscene phone calls from Buffalo Wild Wings. I think they're after me because of my high score on Donkey Kong. I played so much I had to go to the optomatrist who treated me for Coleco vision. Buffalos shouldn't do their own taxes."
