Description This is the cover of "Connecting the Dots," the Justice League/Naruto crossover fanfic I'm going to start posting here come May 7th (when all my classes are out of the way). The story itself is already written and can be found on FF.net here [link] , where it was very well received. For DevART, I'm also going to be drawing cover pictures for each chapter.

The premise of the plot is fairly simple. The teenage ninjas of Naruto get caught up in Kakashi's eye teleportation technique, and find themselves accidentally (?) transported to the DC universe. This causes problems for both the Justice League and the Teen Titans (yeah, they're in this too) as they struggle to help a bunch of teenage soldiers with the concept of "superheroing."

I know it seems like I've been churning out a lot of pictures just recently, but honestly that's the way it goes--I have a lot of pictures in mid-draw, and then I have a free period and I finish them all in the same day. And this guy right here didn't take long--I just inked in a picture and then colored it in Paintshop. Most of the cover pics are going to be like this, I'm trying to emulate the simple art style of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon series.

Anyway. This will be a weekly series, starting May 7th. PhransiscusMagnus, [link] who's been working with me on this, will be translating it into spanish at the same time.

Now that I think about it, its kind of a shame the Joker didn't have any role in the fic since he lives by that whole "all it takes is one bad day" mentality and several Naruto characters have had (Ex: Sasuke) or come close to (Ex: Naruto during the Pain battle) such a bad day.

I didn't feel I had the skill to write the Joker's particular brand of insanity, and really he doesn't do well in group settings--he needs to be his own show or just not be around. Plus, in the DCAU continuity, Joker was last seen in a catatonic state.

Sorry, I haven't made any comments lately. I discovered a new program, Adobe Image Ready that is allowing me to easily color my line art works! Been busy catching up.

No problem. Read and comment at your own pace. The stories aren't going anywhere.

This is a fanfiction that Tinkston and I have been working on for a while. I didn't read your fanfiction until recently, so I didn't get the idea to use Jason Blood from it. I actually like the idea of Hal Jordan and Jason Blood having to work together. They'd be like a Buddy Cop Movie, they don't have much in common except they must help each other get the job done.

Actually Jason Blood isn't in my story at all, just someone who coincidentally looks a lot like him. I'll have to give this fic a look-over.

I only have 9 pages up, but I have 6 more to post up. My colorist, Tinkston is hard at work coloring them. We are trying to finish by Halloween! Let me know what you think.

Your faces aren't that bad. I you work a lot of emotion into them and seem to capture the attitudes correctly. Keeping form and proportion seem to be what you have problems with, and that's only when you don't do drawing where you look at the person head on. I am surprised no one mentioned the ominous glowing eyes next to Lex in the corner. I have a good idea who that is, even though I've only read a third of this story.

Only time will tell. Heh heh. It takes you a while to find out, though, so hope you're ready for a long haul.

Thanks for the words about artistry. I'm working on proportion, but perspective and stuff tends to throw me off a lot.

The background looks nice. Simple and complete. I like the composition as well, noting how everyone is brought together by acquaintance. The weakest part are the faces themselves, and those really aren't that bad, either, given how small they were on the actual paper. I am curious though, do you keep the line art from the inking when you color it, or do you retrace it?

I don't really have a ton of advice for improving the picture... (which is only appropriate, given my skill.) except maybe that you could vary the width of your lines. The distinction between a character's face and the background shouldn't be as significant as the lines between the character's eyes and his face. Line width replaces parallax as the viewer's means of distinguishing distance between objects, or so I've been told.

I draw these out freehand, ink them in as darkly as possible, and then scan them into the computer and color them. I have no plans for coloring them by hand later... it would take too long. I'll try the varied width thing, but I dunno... it's hard enough getting all the objects to be completely closed shapes.

eh, just a thought. I do it with my drawings, but then my drawings are rather simple.

Unlike your writing skills your drawing needs a bit work.

Blinded.

PS: Are spoilers allowed?

This I know. I'm planning to stick to simpler images in order to make the "one drawing a week" thing work, but they're still sort of rough. I did look into commissioning one of the more professional artists here on DA to doing it, but none of them got back to me, and I doubt they'd be up to one a week either.

Spoilers are kinda redundant, since anyone who wants can just look up the story on FF.net. To be on the safe side, though I'd prefer if you avoid them in the comments. You can message me, though.

I'm guessing the big white hand belongs to the Spectre? And the old balding man is Norman McCay? Overall, it's well connected (pardon the pun), and I look forward to the cover of chapter 1 that we discussed.

(If you like, I could try my hand at one of the scenes. Or not, I'm leaving that up to you. Just asking.)

I'm good. Thanks for the offer, though, if I end up needing someone to fill in for me, I'll let you know. Of course, if you WANT to illustrate scenes from the story go ahead, but I think I should handle the covers.

Just a thought. I probably wouldn't have time for it anyway.
