Sorry for late comment, I am struggled with gesture and yeah I've seen so many picture or tutorial about curve but still confused.....and I found a comic with simple style but still looks awesome, and I realize the movement is the same as bean, and it (the character) looks good.
In short it is very helpful to understand movement with this one rather than S curve, sorry for bad grammar though

I am going to use your anatomy tutorial to help with my "Tutorials I think will help the beginner artist" very long title. Sorry about that. I might change it. But I am leaving this comment here so you know.

I've never been goodin gesture and body and, after reading your tutorial, I've decide to try you beans trick ! I've set up a 2 minuts chrono and, voila ! I think this a good trick, even if my bean surely looks bad, but I'll keep practicing ! I know this sound quite... stupid, maybe ? But you really gave me the motivation to do more than just portraiture ! Thank you very much !

I never learned this way. I was super skeptical about this (sorry). I just did a quick body sketch and using this and it took me about half the time it does normally and with a little better result, more fluid I think. I will have to remember this and use it more often.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have so much trouble with the boxes-and-lines method. I just can't seem to wrap my mind around it. This makes a lot more sense to me!

It's a kidney bean, called that because that shape is specifically a kidney shape. Same as pools that shape.
