May I ask why you use a Y- shaped front for your ships? Is it just because it looks awesome, or is there a particular reason?

Hmm...I some how missed this... I was decided for this class of ships with the author of Dark Nova. And, yeah it looks awesome!

the 3fins, house the AP weapon hardware, they are all independent incase of damage, to one, will not take out the other 3 units if they were linked.

The front of the ship looks like the barrel to the Pulse Rifle from the Dead Space games.

For some reason this reminds me of something from Battletech, too - specifically, the arm of the Supernova.

Jepray In reply to Excalibur-T005 [2010-07-01 01:52:11 +0000 UTC]

its actually based on the shoulder missile pod from the up-armored Veritech fighter from Macross...the non-transformable armor

Excalibur-T005 In reply to Jepray [2010-07-01 03:43:56 +0000 UTC]

Huh. Well, it does bear some resemblance to the arm of the Supernova, which I'm more familiar with.

5m-10m thick armour??? Have you considered how much that would weigh and what kind of engines the ship would need to shift so much mass? Back to the drawing board as regards the specs I think.

Breandan-OCiarrai In reply to frazamm [2010-06-27 21:51:19 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm....

Before you order us back to the drawing board so imperiously, you might want to take a step back from the condescension and realize a few things. First off, this is for a game based on novels set in the 24th century where antigravity, inertial dampening, gravitic field manipulation, and mass-reduction technologies are as common as combustion engines today. Remember, it was self-important so-called scientists of the 14th century who SWORE the Earth was flat and the center of the universe, imperious and so sure of themselves, who are now proven inexorably wrong. Everything in the setting is based on cutting-edge science and theoretical technologies that come from the likes of Michio Kaku, and require one to think outside of the box, accept that technology increases, and that what we think of as impossible today will be done ten times before breakfast a few centuries from now. Our tech today was decried as impossible- if it could even be imagined- less than a century ago.

Expand your mind, your ass shall surely follow.

Jepray In reply to frazamm [2010-06-27 21:34:06 +0000 UTC]

Its a SPACESHIP...the thing has four engines...the tech base has Anti-gravity technology... click a button and surprise the ship now weights nothing... i understand the whole mass/inertia problem and moving things in zero grav/space, but with AG tech, its a moot point...and yes the damn thing weights a whole heck of a lot...most metal objects that big surely weights a lot...

Breandan-OCiarrai [2010-06-27 16:12:20 +0000 UTC]

the mechanic accessing the dorsal MAC gun maintenance hatch is a nice touch, but how are you going to draw them when you do the 2km long battlecruiser?
