My darkness... Roses of blood dance in raven hair, pallid flesh moves with smooth seduction. Ethereal and unreal, shadow given flesh and form. Each night my sins come back to haunt me...

I've watched sin city one too many times. This was one of a couple of experiements in a limited palette. Nothing but every shade of cool grey, black, white and a red pencil.
Edit: because someone asked, this was done with prismacolor pencils on black cardstock.

Thank you! Mmm I tried computer colored art before, that takes quite a bit of time as well *chuckles* and I'm terrible at it. It's actually faster for me to color something by hand then it is for me to color something by the computer.

Great job. I wanted to ask you, and keep in mind that I know nothing about PrismaColor except what they look like: when you say, for instance Cool Grey 10%, it that an actual color, or do you mean Cool Gey at 10% pressure?

*chuckles* sorry about that hun. That's an actual color. Prismacolor makes three different types of Grey's. Cool, Warm and French. They come in different shades that are marked by degrees. The higher the degree, the darker the shade. So cool grey 90% is almost black while cool grey 30% would be very close to white.

There is nothing wrong in watching Sin City as many times as the heart desires. Though this makes me think of The Grudge, if the film was beautiful and fantastical.
There's something truely eerie and touching in this image, but I think that comes from not being able to see the face, nor the sex for that matter. The imagination is aroused at that.
Its a curious and sensual image. Which I believe is one of your greatest strengths.

*laughs* I didn't even think of the grudge. Probably because that movie freaked me out so much. I'm such a wimp when it comes to suspence and psychological horror. I spent the entire time we watched both the movies and the tv series clinging to my friends and hiding *chuckles* it's a miracle i even know what's going on.

There used to be (and may still be) a highend parfume called "My Sin"; they used black and white cats in their ads. This would be perfect for that!! It brought so many memories to mind

It's a vintage perfume from the mid 60s that's no longer made. It was by a company called Lanvin who did an extensive ad campaign (in gloss glam mags like Vogue) featuring cats. I think the original ad was of a white cat with a litter of kittens; one was black. The black kitten became a black cat, and continued to be featured prominantly in all the subsequent ads

Wasn't it wonderful? I've never seen a film that blended so many different cultural styles together like that.... and did it well! It was beautiful and eyecandy... but gory and violent at the same time. It was just... so very wonderful *babbles* And thank you m'dear.
