Ultra fractal 5 Gems tutorial.Updated.
This is written for the more advanced user. It takes some time to grasp the technique. It's more an explanation of layer then a step by step follow tutorial. It's for you to get the idea on how it's done. So practise a lot. Not everything is included in the tutorial so you have to look in the params to see some stuff.
Just note me if anything doesn't work.

That's looking good. But you need to work a little more with the gloss. It's a difficult thing to get right in the beginning.

Do I need to add more gloss? Or is it in the wrong place? I found that part of the tut the hardest I think.

The gloss is supposed to be this white fading halfmoon-like thing. I can't really see it in your gems. It needs to be stronger to look like a reflection.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll have to work on that and see if I can improve it. I really want to thank you, Jimmie, for sharing this technique. It's the closest I've ever gotten to making a gem that I liked.

You'll learn the technique in no time. It's a bit difficult in the beginning. Just remember to look at the final result. Some people that have done this tutorial haven't even looked at their results. They just get hung up on the numbers I used. Try to look beyond those numbers and try to see why they I changed them. That's the key to move this technique to other formulas.

Thanks so much for the tutorial Jim! I have long admired gem-look fractals. I tried one by tweaking other's params and studying other gem fractals, but it didn't look quite right. I'm eager to try this out.
