Description

Scimitar Man was an OC I was working on back in the day, before I ended up getting busy with life and other stuff.

I’ve held him off for a bit because I wanted to give him a proper introduction, but life is only getting more busy, so I might as well shed him some light now!

Most of what I wrote about him is in my old phone, but I remember most of the main stuff.

Background:  Scimitar Man is a wind-based robot master created by Dr.M and uses a giant magical sword that was stolen from an exhibition.

The sword was said to hold the power to control winds, however when it was stolen and given to Scimitar to wield, the blade would do nothing. It was simply a sturdy sword.

Dr.M was flustered by all the trouble he went through to construct Scimitar for the very purpose of using the swords power that he tried destroying the sword in sheer frustration and shamefulness. However, when Dr.M managed to actually managed to make a crack on the blade, minerals came from the earth beneath it and sealed the crack closed. So it WAS magical!

Further study had to be conducted, and Dr.M thought that if Scimitar were wield the blade for a while, its power might be unleashed.

However, the blade was quite heavy, even for it’s size (which was already big!) making wielding the blade normally difficult, slow, and inefficient for Scimitar, so Dr.M thought up the function of using centripetal force to use the blade.

Scimitar Man would then be modified to have various rotary mechanics throughout his body to allow him to spin his body in many ways to get the most out of his blade.

Spinning the blade so rapidly allowed Scimitar to draw out a small portion of the blades power, being able to throw out slicing winds, and summon small tornadoes. However, there was much more to behold from the blade, and Dr.M proceeded to test Scimitar until he saw further results.

Scimitar was given the data of many ancient warrior arts as an attempt at figuring out if using the blade in a specific way would draw out the blades power. None of them triggered it.

Personality: Thinking that making Scimitar more like a human warrior could be a solution to the blade, Scimitar was made to have the heart and soul of a warrior, using data records collected from many warriors of the past.

Brave, and always willing to accept a challenge, Scimitar focuses on honing his skills, trying to surpass and learn from his flaws.

Being a warrior, he has a sense of honor, seeing no reason to slay an opponent that can no longer fight. He finds it better to allow his opponent to live and learn, so that they could teach Scimitar something new on their next encounter.

However, Scimitar would often be ordered into slaying his opponents, and so a bug was formed through the confliction of his loyalty and honor, forcing his debug protocol to abandon his loyalty functions, with his own internal AI taking over.

Scimitar would then come to the conclusion that it was best to leave his creator and take the blade with him so that another would not be built to use it. When he was sent into an epic battle one day, Scimitar ceased the opportunity to cover himself and flee away.

He would wonder off on his own journey.

To be honest, I feel most of this is kind of stolen from Sword Man. Stealing a sacred sword, the sword being too heavy, both having unconventional ways of being able to use it to its full potential, both are warrior-minded. It seems this is more an AU of Sword Man rather than his own character. The design is AMAZING, but I can't feel that this is a bit too similar.

Yes you are right.

In honesty, I designed this guy after seeing an African weapon that used centripetal force to fight.

When I tried incorporating that onto a giant robot with a huge sword, I basically got Sword Man with a wind/Eastern-esque theme

I've come to terms that it is indeed an AU. Which I find more interesting.

Like the wind version of SwordMan.

I wonder how often people do Megaman AU's

Honestly I don't think many people do MMAUs, other than the devs with the Battle Network series. Either way, this AU would be really cool!

Then it's settled, this will be an AU!

Plus, I feel like this would be a good way to add more lore to the sword, unlike SwordMan's sword. Still have respect for SwordMan though.

I also have to say this. If it's multiple RMs, then I have one that'd be a good replacement for Shadow Man.

Yeah, SwordMan really needs to be more fleshed out. Well, Alloyed out, in his case. But here's a few questions. One, will SwordMan be the only Robot Master changed in this AU, or will multiple ones be changed. Two, with Scimitar Man's creator being this "Dr M" fellow, that'd likely mean Dr Wily either doesn't Exist, goes by the name "Dr M," or isn't the big bad of this world. Which one will it be?

Hmm, now that I've put a lot of thought into it, perhaps an AU would be too much work.

Sure I could go with an alternate bad guy and alternate hero, but most of the OC's I've already made aren't really alternate versions of any existing robot masters. They would not be able to fit into this new world accordingly.

Though perhaps I could link Scimitar and Sword some how with their magical weapons, but this would require me to make up stuff for the canon universe as well for it to work.

Hmmm, then again, theirs so much of the canon-verse that's left unexplained. Like for Sword Man for example, where does his fire come from? Does it come from the sword or Sword Man himself?

Perhaps I'll need to tweek Scimitars background and functionality. I'll probably showcase these with illustrations in the future when I find the time.

Sounds like a fun idea. I'll be looking forward to this!

Looks badass man! That perspective looks nice. Puts quite the focus on the sword. Anyway, I love the parallels to Sword Man. It's like they're kindred spirits. Love the bit with the sword being too heavy for him too. It's going to be cool seeing him in motion, with those wild, weird, and weighty circular motions he'll be doing. Awesome stuff man.

Maybe in another dimension, this could've been Sword Man

But yeah, I'm sure they would get along quite nicely.

Yeah, I really want to see how I can show his use of centripetal force to use the blade. I don't see that kind of fighting style used too often so I'll have to study up my stuff and see how I'll be able to illustrate that.

Thanks man

I was wondering if maybe their swords are actually a "series" of ancient heavy weapons. Would be cool to make a small team of  weapon wielding masters, but each with their own cool gimmick on how they user their weapons!

Anyway... I'm imagining him twisting and rotating his limbs independently, just like an actual industrial robot. Should be quite a wild fight!

No problem man! ^^

Hey, now there's an idea!

I've honestly thought of this concept a little before, to help Scimitar stand out a bit more than Sword Man, put him in a weapon user group!

Hmm, now this is a concept I'll have to tinker with in my head so I can execute it correctly!

Looks killer! I'm glad to see you're keeping on with the concept after you first sketched him a while ago. He's freaking wicked!

The thing that sets him apart from Sword Man is that he seems more formidable overall as a warrior!

Yeah, I did work alot on his design and lore. It'd be a shame to just scrap it all.

It's alright, I've thought of him as an alternate universe version of Sword Man, which I honestly find more interesting!

Yes, I would say that the movement I have planned for Scimitar Man should make him look quite formidable indeed! Not to mention his knowledge of many styles with the blade, aswell as his size (10ft).

Also, unlike Sword Man, I plan to go deeper with the lore of the blade, so he should definitely feel more in-depth as a character!

Thanks, I needed to get him out

He is definitely a keeper. I love the use of mysticalness in the sword. Rarely if ever do we see any actual magical stuff appear in Megaman. Exploring something like swordmans sword is a great idea too.

Jo3-R6e In reply to Dollwoman [2018-04-19 18:10:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Megaman is all about that science fiction!

I think they even gave Magic Man a scientific explanation

Yeah, the canon-verse doesn't say anything about SwordMan's sword, other than it's ancient.

I wanted to put more depth in my guys sword.

After many battles with the blade, Scimitar could not think of why such a weapon would be efficient due to its weight. He later finds out that the sword is purposely denying him its power, and making itself heavy on purpose.

He travels the world, hoping to see if anyone can tell him the origins of the blade, so that he could solve its mystery once and for all.
