Description This is my first tutorial! Please enjoy.

After exams, I'll take a picture of the new things I made. You'll be amazed :]

I use air-dry clay.
If you are using polymer clay, make sure you bake it before glazing.

Awesome! I've never seen this technique for choco-sauce. About how much do you mix. ratio wise I mean. is it a simple 50/50?

not really sure anymore lol
i think 1:10 maybe. you don't really need a lot of paint. I suggest adding small amounts of paint to the amount of glaze you need instead of just mixing a big blob of paint with the glaze.

i haven't tried that...You could try to find some brown nail polish. I've tried mixing paint with glue, but it dries flat and has a lot of air bubbles.

Clever use of sculpey glaze and acrylics! Now I know what to do with my extra sculpey glaze and won't need to buy any fancy oils for TLS. :3

I have a kind of dumb question, but I want to start making things like this. If you're using oven-bake clay, do you put on the "icing" and fuit slices before or after you bake it?

I never thought of using glaze and paint.....this is a revolution in my world. That being said is this thicker than TLS? Or is it just as runny, because I have been having problems not getting my TLS to thicken up and this would really solve some problems for me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jobo12354 In reply to Zimika [2011-12-11 00:21:48 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure because I've never used TLS before. If you let it sit for a while, it gets thicker.

Ohh, might I have a link please? And are they bakeable, as in can we put them on clay that needs to be baked?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jobo12354 In reply to af43 [2011-09-21 20:53:49 +0000 UTC]

ummm I don't have a link but if you go to ebay.com and search fruit cane, results should pop up. They're relatively cheap. I'm not sure if they can be baked. You can always glue them on after you're done baking.

Cool! Do you think you could link me to them?
I know now that you can buy a pack of them from beauty supply stores, because people use them on nails. Do those work as well?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jobo12354 In reply to AlphaMusician [2011-08-20 21:59:51 +0000 UTC]

[link]
You can also just go on ebay and search "nail cane". It'll come up with a lot of results!
They're the same thing as the nail art ones, so you can also buy them from beauty supply stores as well

And I think I'll get them from the store. My mother is a make up artist/hair stylist (well, used to be!) So I get a discount!
