I saved this one tutorial too.
There is a picture I have of a tiger that I would very much like to see if I can recreate... this tutorial has certainly pointed me in the right direction to start. Thankyou!!!

Green-Day28 [2010-02-14 22:48:00 +0000 UTC]

Ah... This one seems a bit more helpful, since I use iscribble, and don't have photoshop.. I think I can still do this. This is epic, Jen.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jocarra In reply to Green-Day28 [2010-02-15 01:02:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Lemme know if you need any help (one of the steps is notoriously confusing).

My personal opinion is that the first tutorial is the easiest, and translates well in application to better, more difficult techniques/styles - in essence, it's just using scribbling, which I still use a ton XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Green-Day28 In reply to jocarra [2010-02-15 01:07:14 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! ^^'

I tried this method out just now and it works good, thanks again! ^^ I tend not to scribble, though, and instead just use stroke-by-stroke, since I have a mouse and iscribble's smallest pen tool is still rather large. >.> Whenever I scribble it ends up just looking like..scribbles...

jocarra In reply to Green-Day28 [2010-02-15 01:14:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh, haha, yeah, that probably makes a bit of a difference

But yeah, there's definitely an "art" to getting scribbles to look good XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Green-Day28 In reply to jocarra [2010-02-15 01:16:27 +0000 UTC]

There is, indeed. XD
Anyone can scribble, but it takes an artist to make those scribbles look good.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jocarra In reply to Green-Day28 [2010-02-15 01:20:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's basically the same thing with art itself, really.

Anyone can draw a line on a surface, or put dents into a lump of clay, but somehow SOME people can actually turn those lines and dents IN to something XD It's a little strange when you break it down like that, seems kinda magical.

I'm confuzzled...D:
stuck at step 4 cause I don't really get what you did to get from that second image for the detailing part to the third one where it looks much better... ._.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jocarra In reply to SibeFreak [2009-11-08 04:21:49 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, yeah, I should maybe re-write this part :b

Okay, the first two big images do NOT represent what the painting actually looks like (although the last one shows you what the final product looks like).

What the first two big images represent are your brush strokes. Using your airbrush, if you brush in the areas I indicated, you will end up with something like the in the little images above them.

For instance, starting at the top left small image. It's pretty plain, right? If you follow the first big image as a guide for where to airbrush, you'll end up with something like the second small image.

From the second small image, if you airbrush in a way similar to what's shown in the second big image, you'll end up with the final product, the third big image on the right.

I hope that kind of helps :b Lemme know if you need more help

Hi gotta question do you use a digitalizer for your drawings or do you scann them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jocarra In reply to AnneWolfsRain [2009-11-05 08:38:59 +0000 UTC]

I use neither. I use a Wacom tablet to sketch my pictures from scratch in Photoshop.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnneWolfsRain In reply to jocarra [2009-11-13 03:12:50 +0000 UTC]

uhh thanks hey do yoou think that scanning them will help?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jocarra In reply to AnneWolfsRain [2009-11-13 06:55:23 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure what you mean. Scanners are if you want digital versions of a non-digital picture, so if you are best at pencil sketches, then sure, get a scanner, sketch in pencil, scan them, and then colour them on the computer. But if you can sketch fine on the computer, don't waste money getting a scanner unless you need one.

AnneWolfsRain In reply to jocarra [2009-11-22 17:40:12 +0000 UTC]
