Description Dynasty is an alternate time-line super-team, in the HeroBlog universe. If the mainstream team Legacy is the Justice League, then Dynasty is the Crime Syndicate.
The front man, there is Abraxas, the second of that name. Behind him, and being inappropriate with a co-worker is Valkyrie. The tiny guy falling from someplace up high is Virus. In the cowl and cape is The Raven. The guy in yellow and black is Overlord, in his time-line, a member of the Overlords, an interstellar group of enforcers, like an evil Green Lantern Corps. The armored guy is Panzer, basically a walking tank. The big guy is Orqa, basically an anthropomorphic killer whale.
Peeking out from behind Orqa is Quickfire, a speedster who literally burns up the road, and snaking her way through the group is the green-skinned Serpentine. She's very stretchy.
It's been awhile since I wrote any HeroBlog stuff, but I'm planning to get back to it, soon.

If you work something up, I'd be interested in seeing what costume design and backstory you come up with.

Which of your other characters have sidekicks? And when you say you think "weasel", do you mean weasel personality wise, or a character based on a weasel?

Joe-Singleton In reply to sumner1234 [2012-06-23 07:29:57 +0000 UTC]

Personality, mainly. I mean, Raven's like the head of Abraxas's KGB and all, so any minion of his ought to be properly grovelly and all. Oily, weasely. A teenage Desaad. That would be creepy.

I know Raven is supposed to be a Batman/Owlman type character, and its got me wondering if you ever created some sort of sidekick for him. Some sort of little sycophant who runs around doing his bidding, or a younger guy who's plotting the day he knocks Raven off, and takes his place as a member of Dynasty.

I never even thought about villain sidekicks. It would make a bit of sense, though. My Iron Eagle had Redhawk, who's probably old enough and experienced enough to take over the Eagle gig, by now. I'll have to think what kind of sidekick would a guy like Raven have. My first thought is, weasel.

You know now that I've given this some thought, I'm thinking that Raven might have had several side-kicks, as I don't see all of them surviving. I could also see one of them striking out on his own, in direct competition with his former mentor, becoming some sort of parallel to Nightwing. I'm thinking the name Blackwing would be a nice fit.

I think DC has a Blackwing, these days.
I think you're right, though, Raven would probably go through quite a few test subj...I mean, sidekicks.

HeroBlog is the story of Amp, told in blog form.Started in 2005, kinda faded in 2009. I'm hoping to bring it back, if I can divide my attention between it and Ad Astra.
I'm going to be posting some new Dynasty art, soon. Your question the other day got me to thinking, so I'll be posting a few pieces of art and telling some story with them. I'm going to do them as mock covers.

can serpentina shape shift?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Joe-Singleton In reply to derfs51 [2011-03-08 20:02:06 +0000 UTC]

She's more along the lines of the Elongated Man or Mr. Fantastic. Especially Mr. Fantastic as he was originally conceived. Reed was supposed to hurt every time he stretched. Serpentine's powers are uncomfortable, more than painful.

Probably, within limits.
I just finished a piece with her and Raven, another mock cover I'll be posting soon.

derfs51 In reply to Joe-Singleton [2011-06-16 02:12:56 +0000 UTC]

ok.honestly,i keep thinking she is like most elastic heroes, can shapeshift and change size.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Joe-Singleton In reply to derfs51 [2011-06-16 03:32:43 +0000 UTC]

Other than Plastic Man, most elastic heroes have been limited in how far they can stretch or how much they can shape-change. Serpentine is like Elongated Man and Mr. Fantastic, she's stuck with her green skin and while her hair can stretch, it's still hair and she can't control it. She's pretty much stuck with how small a volume she can compress into by the laws of physics and she's limited in how far she can stretch by some other mechanism I haven't worked out yet. Suffice to say, if Reed or Ralph couldn't do it, she probably can't.
And she will never, ever be seen extending her eye on some kind of 30-foot long stalk to spy on good guys through their chimney or ventilation shaft or something, that always creeped me out when Ralph did it. Gyiiiah....

yeah,Plastic Man did change the tone of stretching and shapeshifting but dude can't even change color while at it.

Now i get where she's coming from. Not all elastic heroes are alike as i thought.

It's funny that most elastic characters are heroes, y'know? Seems like a power that could go either way, but I can't think of any villains in Marvel or DC with real elastic powers.

derfs51 In reply to Joe-Singleton [2011-06-16 20:24:47 +0000 UTC]

the only villain i know in the DC is Madame Rouge from Doom Patrol she got elastic powers and change shape.

you are so dead on!

Joe-Singleton In reply to derfs51 [2011-06-16 20:30:13 +0000 UTC]

Heh, you're right, I didn't think of her.
And they did everything they could to make her un-sexy when she stretched, too. She was always creepy, to me.

i still can't to see more of serpentina soon.

you're right about most of the elastic characters, there more heroes than villains and it is so weird.

Joe-Singleton In reply to derfs51 [2011-06-16 21:00:34 +0000 UTC]

I think they were afraid of where the mind would go, if they did a stretchy villain. It's the kind of power that would easily head off into dark areas. All it would take is a writer with that kind of mind and you'd have Really Twisted Tales, or something.

derfs51 In reply to Joe-Singleton [2011-06-16 21:05:12 +0000 UTC]

you know,it makes sense that elastic heroes are kinda like the rubber band, they keep everyone together and cheer them up.

to me,that's also their downfall for the fact they feel they have to please everyone.

Joe-Singleton In reply to derfs51 [2011-06-16 21:18:28 +0000 UTC]

That's why Plastic Man was a gigolo in Kingdom Come.

derfs51 In reply to Joe-Singleton [2012-11-28 18:13:58 +0000 UTC]

Don't get me wrong, I'm such a big fan of the power of elasticity, it just that it's a shame that most of them (heroes, to be exact) have such limited roles, like they aren't taken as seriously.

I guess the stereotype of the elastic hero has to be a light-hearted, comical jokester can be a reason why the roles are not big in the first place.

Thanks.
I haven't done much with Raven, yet, but I might need to work up a story with him. I'm thinking he should be a brilliant strategist, but less physical than the JLA:Earth-2/Crisis on Two Earths Owlman. A rear echelon type general. Gotta make him different, y'know?

sumner1234 In reply to Joe-Singleton [2013-04-22 03:30:11 +0000 UTC]

Not sure why this popped into my head, but would Raven have sort sort of villainous sidekick? I'm thinking he'd be cunning, learning everything he could, while biding his time until he could strike.

Testiclecius In reply to Joe-Singleton [2010-10-22 16:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Usually his fighting skills will come at a most oportunistic time in a battle scene. You could see how good he teams up with each different crew member as a duo in some strategy sessions.

Thanks. I never liked stretchy characters, but the idea struck a chord when I was creating characters for HeroBlog. A stretchy female character is pretty rare and I liked how the name has a nice sinister ring and sort of describes her powers. She's only made a couple of appearances in HeroBlog, and I'll be writing some more stuff, so she might have to make some more trouble.
