Description Took awhile, but I finally finished. I wasn't happy with my original drawing of Banshee, so I did some work on him. Originally, I had a Controller holding Lilandra, for some reason and I started adding in the Fatal Five, later. I reworked it so Tharok is the one holding Lilandra and the Legionnaires are all in the Emerald Empress's thrall.
I did this on 11X17 Bristol board, it was easier to work on it, in my limited workspace, and it gave me the advantage to use the slight difference in proportion to draw Phoenix, Colossus and Banshee into the scene. I was going to fill the sky with ships, but it would have been too tedious and cluttering, in an already crowded scene.
I also made some modifications to the background. In the original Dave Cockrum drawing, there are strange, alien buildings in the background and lots of weird plants that look like the fake plants on Star Trek (Original Series) or something. Since the alien city never plays any part in the story, I decided that a planet with a giant crystal mounted on a retro-tech pedestal should have crystal mountains, crystal everywhere, even the "grass" is crystal.

Since I know the backstory behind the Imperial Guard, I find this hilarious and awesome at the same time! Geek high!

I recently sold the original art for this. It's kinda cool having someone buy a piece I did for myself.

I miss the Legion of Super Heroes, always loved how the writers were able to give inhabitants of a planet a certain power and also how the heroes and villains all have unique and distinct personalities, to say the least. I doubt DC will ever bring them back.

One form or another, the Legion always comes back. Legion fans are the most shat-upon fans in comics, but they're the most loyal. I don't know who it'll be, or what they'll do, but the Legion will live again.

Legion of Super-Heroes vs Uncanny X-Men? Β This is the superhero crossover that NEEDS to happen, for realsies! Β Great job!

Yeah, that was the whole point of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard being analogs of the Legion. Sadly, the x-men analogs who showed up in the Legion were bloody awful. Then, when Marvel and DC did an X-men crossover, it was with the Titans, because they were the hot team book at DC at the time.
