Even with minimal shading there is still a great sense of depth to this cartoon, it's not "flat".
Got any tips on how you got this good?
How do you keep your proportions right? I have a huge problem with that, I'll draw one leg, then the other one will be kind of off.
I also have a problem getting that "depth" in my work, I can draw hands curving outward toward the viewer, but it'll look like a paper hand.
In your pieces, you have various angles, but the sense of depth is maintained. Any tips you got would be really appreciated ^_^

I'm not sure I know anything about actual art study ._. I think I've just been drawing so long I pick up things through instinct, if I do at all.
for proportions though, what the guy below me said - start with simple shapes for your characters, sketch and plan out your picture (consider it a blueprint for the finished masterpiece~) so that way you can see if everything looks proper and proportionate - if your planning sketch is good then your picture is pretty much guaranteed for success afterwards. if not then fix what needs to be fixed to getΒ the sketchΒ looking right!
As for depth...I think it has a lot to do with understanding how objects face towards you or away from you (again, shapes may make a great difference in this case, even without shading/color/any other indication of it www.flickr.com/photos/99136073... here's a quick, crappy attempt to explain thatΒ if it helps

Yah, that's the same way I got to where I am now. Just practiced on my own.
Thanks for the tips too, I'm definetly gonna try making that geometric breakdown before getting into the actual drawing.

You may try breaking characters and objects into simple geometrical shapes. For example in most pony drawing tuts you start with three circles: two for a body and one for the head.

If you want to learn drawing just draw a fscking lot. (lol, recursion)
