Description Pistol Grip-style shotgun - Spring-powered airsoft (springsoft?). It shoots really well and holds about 20 rounds at a time. I'd just keep it onthe wall for display and to scare the neighbors

Thanks! Β I think that was a bit of drybrushing, but also some ink wash to darken the recesses. Β It was a while back, but that's how I'd do it nowadays!

i was wondering if you could help me out. i was looking through your gallery, and i'm astonished at the quality of your art, i was wondering how you got this metal finish. you see, i just got a plastic ppk, and i would love to give it some life. after all, it is such a beautiful little pistol. any tips for a rookie?

Thank you, I work really hard at it and appreciate the kind comments. For the metallic finish, I use a ton of different treatments, but a lot of it is drybrushing. If you do a search on youtube you'll find some good stuff on it. I'm BILLOFWRONGS on there if you want to see some old videos...hehe

I can't believe how well you imitate the metallic finish with your paint. If I didn't have one and know they were completely plastic, you'd have me fooled into thinking it's really metal.

I really appreciate that. I wish I knew more about what I'm doing, but to be honest it's mostly instinct. I guess that will work

I bought that same gun at walmart years ago along with a massive 300 round magazine, even on a competitive airsoft field these little shotguns can put the fear into people 50 yards out if you know what your doing.

It does! It's just a pretty simple model, I think I paid about $25 for it. It's come a ways from there, but the price will still be pretty reasonable, me thinks!

Wow nice, and interesting. I like how you modding the surfaces to look metal/used/weathered etc. I checked your webside but cant find - do you have any reference from bigger movies or just "fan-movies"?

Working on that part of things currently, but I have done some Star Wars and other replicas. Glad you like the gun!

You really know how to look the cheap Airsofts like they are High Grade

JohnsonArmsProps In reply to Marcoon1305 [2011-04-17 16:48:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, Al. It allows people to collect them without spending thousands on the Tokyo Maru stuff It's also helped me practice for when I'm doing the genuine prop gun. If you've seen real props, they're generally a pile of black poo, but that's partially because they're used in scenes where the detail just doesn't show up on film. For the projects I've worked on, I did get fedback that the guns looked great and that the details on the guns still made a $100 gun look like a $500 prop and they're also cheap enough to get a few instead on just one (which is never a good idea since the guns can get damaged or lose paint. Most films will order from 5-20 of the same gun so they can toss them and grab another!)

I've heard that rumor, too. It doesn't kill them or anything. But it really pisses them off. You should see their face, all "Grrrarrghrruugha." Well I can't really do it, but you get the idea.

Classic zombie humor!

I have a gun like this one, only its not as cool because it's not painted. Also, I think it's broke because I sat on it.
