And now the game is multiplayer.
UruLive. It's back. Again.
Now you'll have help with those ridiculous puzzles.

I love this game. Unfortunately, I played it when I was too young/dumb to tie my own shoes, and now my disc won't work because of my (slightly) SUPERIOR TECHNOLOGY.

Oh my gosh. Ah ha ha ha! XD you tottally summed up Myst and how I feel about it.
It bothers me that people can't just enjoy the world of Myst just for the fact of wandering and finding things out! Everyone I've showed it too has just gone 'um, so what does it /do/???'. *facepalm* Its called thinking people.

Myst was my first computer game, and I loved it. This was an epic nostalgic comic for me, never got to play the sequels, though...

I haven't played the fourth one, and I really really hated the fifth one. But the first three were amazing--personally my favorite was the third, but the first one ran such a close second they might as well be tied.
The sketches are simple, but fun, and yes, I recall I did have to consult guidebooks for all three. And I do have a friend who mocks me for liking the Myst games ><;;;;; but really, until I discovered Legend of Zelda (insert gasp here) the Myst games were my favorite games ever. I tend to like puzzle-oriented games for some reason ^___^ But thank you, this cartoon embodies, in just a few quick panels, everything that is Myst. (And homicidal brothers ftw! XD)

I don't know why, but every time I see the second panel...the "BLUH!" makes me actually "lol"! It's amazing how a little simplified person like that can do such a thing!

Incredibly funny ! Plus, that game was absolutely fantastic. It was pure genius. It IS pure genius, in fact, since it still exists, and was ported to iPhone for example.

Panel 7 is so very... very true. I know this because I asked my uncle, who is also a gamer, to order Revelations for me online and I had to sit and listen to him go on and on about how Myst is only for losers and how I must not be a proper gamer.
He's very mature for a 44 year old, don't you agree? :3

Odd that I bought RealMyst for probably no more than $20 a couple years back and now it seems like you can only find if for $50 or more. Are they not aware that it's a Windows 98 game (but it works fine in XP)???

I want to play this game so much, but my computer won't support it! maybe I could get the Playstation vertion and put it in my PS2 ...
BTW the proper spelling in the third panel (I believe) is "Puf", however Poof is good too.

I started playing these games as a kid. Got kind of far in the first one, gave up. Then picked it back up when they released Exile. Exile, in my opinion is the best one of the 5. The little mouse creature is love.
haven't finished the 5th one yet. >3>
I've played a couple of the Uru games...haven't finished them either. I think they deviated too much from Myst.
But this cartoon embodies all the feelings of Myst. I'm so booking a trip to the island.

I love Myst. I remember years ago trying to play it with my sister. but we were both young and couldn't figure anything out. then I think it was a year or 2 ago, I got an urge to play old pc games that are on my families old PC (Windows 95). I was now older and wiser.... but still couldn't figure certain parts out. Thank god for the internet and video game walkthroughs. For the most part I tried to figure out a lot of it on my own, but certain parts I used a guide to help me solve a puzzle or point me in the right direction to continue one and keep trying to figure stuff out.
I've also played Myst 2: Riven. and I should have Myst 3: Exile somewhere in my house, but it and Riven and a disc with RealMyst has gone missing (they were all in a box set thingy)
But anyway, yeah I can relate to panel 1, 3, 4, and 5. I will never let my tongue touch my mouse, I had no idea about the D'ni, I dont talk to people much so 7 doesn't work, and I wouldn't be willing to buy an expensive plane ticket to a tiny little island that I can happily explore on my pc.

Oh my goodness. Myst. I remember starting it. And giving up. And starting. And giving up. At some point my little brother started it. And gave it up. Then I stumbled upon the books. Afterwards I started the game. And gave up. And so forth. Maybe one day I will finish one of them.

Lol, Myst is excellent in every way. I'm surprised so many people don't like it purely because they have no patience. I amanged tog et msot of the way through the first without a guide, then the number 5 square came into play and that quote was exactly what I said. Still, the difficulty is all part of the game as is the surrealness and the confusing aspects. ^_^
