It took my brother and I an entire March break to finish it... and yeah... we needed the guide -_-
I want to play the sequels but my computer hates games!

Yeah this is soooo true!
When you tell people you're a Myst fan, they usually go like "OMG A FAN OF WHAT?" It's so sad. I was very happy to find the Myst fanclub on DA a few months ago to put an end to this feeling

It's also very sad that many people who actually play the game use walkthroughs. It's not that difficult

Panal #7 is so true. It's like developers fear making something original because everybody just keeps demanding sequal after sequal. By this point the developers don't even bother making anything new because they know they'll make twice as much money for recycling the same old games. So I blame the fanboys/girls for the bland and unoriginal games of this generation of gaming. The developers probably have some great ideas stached away but you won't let them try to use them because you just want to feel the same experience every time you turn on a game. I think another problem is that to many developers are overusing the features that the console gives them. The console developers put a lot of good ideas into their consoles unfortunatly the game developers either overuse these fetures or make them feel gimiky. The Wii for example, it's a great idea for games. Most 3rd party developers either use the motion sensing like it was just slaped on at the last minute or they use it so much that it becomes a chore to figure out how to get the game to differenciate between signals. Your going to hate me for saying this but I personaly think that Legend of Zelda: Twight princess didn't need you to constantly point at the screen for no reason. It searved no purpose and I became increasingly annoyed when I had to try to purposly point away from the screen to keep that damn fairy icon off it only to see it back in the middle of my screen everytime I swong my sword (Wii controler). The only time I see the pointing as necasarry is when your using a wepon such as the bow and other wepons you need to aim to use. Don't get me wrong I still wonder to myself weather Ocarina of Time or Twilight princess is the best game of the series. But I just feel like they didn't think their Wii control system through. Yes I know that you can turn the icon off but then you also cancle out the ability to aim your wepons. Then it just feels like your playing a game without the motion controls the Wii is supposed to be famous for. (oops I went way over board. )

I know what you mean. but if they just learned to use it correctly it could work out. I personaly thought that the controls for Metroid Prime 3 worked very well.

Try it without a guide. It's freaking impossible.

So true. when i arrived on Myst Island for the first time i was like: WTF. SRSLY. My favourite is IV- Revelation. That was the one that set me of. Since it was the first one i had played...not starting with no. 1, I bought it and didn't know what the HELL was going on. All i noticed was the apparant homicidal brothers
If, an old man that kept calling me "friend", and a little girl that kept asking me to follow her. That, and some of the most random puzzles in the UNIVERSE. You look at the age rating on the back, its a 3+. I'm nearly 15 and i still havent finished the series.
They are the best games in the world though! I enjoy thinking.
hollz.....x

And then I ask myself, Oath Brother, why does my fucking PC have to be so amazing (that's a lie) that I can't play these classics anymore? I can't play Myst, Theif Gold, or The Elder Scrolls II Daggerfall or I Arena, anymore.

WolfWarhead In reply to TheMetalExodus [2008-07-22 09:14:41 +0000 UTC]

Is it because they run at insane speeds or do they just not run at all?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheMetalExodus In reply to WolfWarhead [2008-07-22 09:25:09 +0000 UTC]

It's because they were intended for 98 or earlier systems (including DOS for Arena 1, lol). You need some kind of patch to confuse your PC into running a DOS program with XP or Vista.
