Description
I really like the new art style that the new Smash Bros game for the Wii-U/3DS gave to Mega Man, so I decided to draw the robot masters in that design. This time, I tackled the anti-Dr. Light troop: the Mega Man 2 cast! For the most part, everyone was really fun to draw, especially my favourite from this group: Flash Man! Wood Man was a bit tricky in terms of not deviating from the source material while also giving him the updated look. Air Man was tricky purely out of his shape, but still generally fun.
I hope you all enjoy!

Heheh, I guess I am!
I didn't finish the MM6 group, but I'd like to resketch these now that I've gotten better with my new art program, FireAlpaca.

Well assuming you do, I would love to see them.
I had a few works inspired by this, but they were hand-drawn and hard to see.
But how is FireAlpaca by the way, and what platform is it on (PC, mobile, something else)?
Thank you, and good luck!

Heheh, well I'm glad that I could inspire you to make art from this piece! I'd be interested to see what you worked on!
FireAlpaca is PC and Mac, AND it's free! The inking is fantastic, the paneling for comics is easy to do, and the fact that it's all free is a total win in my book!

Alrighty, thank you! I have an uncolored version of it here, but I can't find it in better quality. Anyways, thank you for letting me know, and I will use it soon...!

My favorite to least favorite robot master in Megaman 2:
Quick Man > Air Man > Metal Man > Wood Man > Bubble Man > Flash Man > Crash Man > Heat Man.

Nice list, though my favourites are:
Flash Man > Crash Man > Metal Man > Quick Man > Bubble Man > Wood Man > Air Man > Heat Man.
I think the MM2 crew is pretty neat, though Heat Man is definitely on the bottom rung on that list. Flash Man's design always intrigued me, plus I love going through his stage.

ooooo spiffy poses! See, I know nothing about these characters, but still, they look really nice and I'm sure it's a great tribute piece!

Wow, that is a wonderful compliment! Thank you so very much, Maggie! I'm really happy to hear that I can make the fan art enjoyable for fans as I can for people who haven't played the Mega Man games!

So despite being "anti-Light," they're just as bright and colorful?
Lovely variety! Their designs all read so clearly, and I'm able to get a good idea as to who functions as what even when not knowing the characters very well. Good job! bοΌοΌΎβοΌΎοΌ

Haha, yes! Actually most are even brighter than the MM1 cast if you really think about it!
Really it's a matter of most of the robot masters in MM2 being built by Dr. Wily improving the MM1 robot master schematics for combat. Case in point, Flash Man actually could stop time whereas Time Man could only slow it down, Quick Man's speed is tenfold of Elec Man's, Crash Man's bombs are more destructive than Bomb Man's and has almost a similar durability as Guts Man, Bubble Man is an improvement over Oil Man by attacking with chemical bubbles that are effective on land as they are underwater, and so much more.

Ufufufu, this is reminding me very much of one of the rules on the "Evil Overlord list": "I will dress in bright and cheery colors, and so throw my enemies into confusion." Who knows, perhaps it will work?
Ahh, so in a way the original cast of robots could be seen as prototypes, which were then improved on?

Haha! Yeah, it does seem like that! It also reminds me of an old Nintendo comic where Eggplant Wizard and some guy named Thanatos showed the dos and don'ts of evil villainry, one of which was to wear the right uniform. Thanatos wears a dark overlord outfit while Eggplant Wizard dresses up as an ice cream truck driver.
In a sense, yes! Funny thing is the original cast was supposed to be made more for benefiting humankind while the Mega Man 2 cast was built solely for combat.

Ahahaha, which comic was that? That sounds like something Brawl in the Family would do~Β Now for the quiz: Which of the two is doing it right, and doing it wrong?
Hmm, that sounds like a reflection of real-world stories I've heard: like Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite so that it would be safer to use for mining than nitroglycerin; I don't think he had ever meant for it to be used for such destructive means like attacking other people. I wonder if that's where the Mega Man creators got their ideas from? (Dr. Light and Dr. Wily were apparently based off of Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein, for example.) οΌγ»Ογ»οΌ

Actually it was an old comic book based on the Captain N TV show:Β cnn.captainn.net/com_cn2_vdad.β¦ I loved reading the old Nintendo comics, even if they weren't always accurate to the games.
Yes! That was one of the reasons why they chose Thomas for Dr. Light and Albert for Dr. Wily! Ironically Albert Einstein was the pacifist, but he pushed the US military to develop the atomic bomb to end the war as quickly as possible.

I've read up to the MM2 arc and only parts of "Spiritus Ex Machina." Also read "Proto-Type, Part 1," but I couldn't find Part 2. So yeah, got some catching up to do."I've... been built by Dr. Light~ A robot built to fi--"
Whoops, wrong group and song.

It's definitely cool that they're going with Super Adventure Rockman instead of the "power crystals for Gamma" plot for the next chapter!
I'll take you up on the Worlds Collide arc though. I'll be honest, I'm not always crazy about crossovers. I feel kinda uncomfortable about two heroes from two series duking it out, because it'll sometimes lead to some fan going crazy shouting: "Hey! Bullcrap, he'd TOTALLY cream that jerk!" and I don't really like flame wars like that. Also it's kinda weird when two different universes come together, especially when it's taken seriously. Something like Smash Bros is more of something out of fun rather than "OHMAHGAWDESTABLISHUNIVERSESNOWWWW~"
But if the crossover story was cool, then great!
"Hey... what do you say? You say, 'Don't take their lives, they don't deserve to die!' Then who does--?"
Whoops! Another wrong song! (...I like The Megas too much for my own good.)

And it seems right after this arc happens the Mega Man 3 tie-in... not sure how they'll do it but I'm sure I'll like it!
The crossover is really great, in my opinion, and the "who is better-flame wars" doesn't really happen here, I feel the writers balanced it out greatly. I always avoid fandoms, don't really care much about them. But it's your choice. I would still say to give it a try, though.
Haha me too! I'm also excited for History Repeating Red!
