First off, will somebody please help me think of a better name for this >_<I dunno what's up with me and spontaneous Halo sketches, but they seem to happen. Again, bored one night, decided I wanted to do draw something I didn't have to think too hard about. So I had an idear, popped open the "Art of Halo" book, flipped to the section with concept art for the Master Chief, and started compositing bits of the armor together. It was really cool for me because I didn't have to worry about making it look correct, it's all conceptual!
But yeah, this was originally going to be a picture of this "Spartan" having his new smexy armor undergoing a diagnostic. He'd have a bunch of little sensors and crap hooked up to him, that's why he's just kinda standing there hangin' his head like that. Not just for dramatic effect
I hope to digitize this, color it, add a lot more, and ultimately bring that idea to life. But in the meantime, here's the sketch I made! Enjoy!

funny enough Sigma is one of the lead demons in the story the guy in the icon comes from. ..which.. Demon is what MC was called by the Covie

Well alright! Aries could be the squad name of this spartan, while his personal call sign will remain Sigma. Actually have a concept of what I'm gonna do to finish this image eventually, and that kind of fits into it in an odd way ^^

Thank you! The goal was over attention to detail even though there was no 100% reference to stick to.
I take refuge in segmented plates! So many lines, harder to see that they're all wiggly and misproportioned!

your permutation armor idea is ok, however i misses a more developed concept for the parts. For example you could draw a more explicative sole helmet concept on the side of the main armor.
And it important to remember that inside these sturdy scales of metal is a human being, so not abuse the armor details to make him look robot and try to give it more line quality, to make him look human. A fucking hard one.

Well, it wasn't really intended to be thought-out or technical. It's more of a doodle based off what you just mentioned: more explicative concepts of different parts of the armor. I wanted to draw something like MJOLNIR, but not have to be trying to copy something exactly. And when I try spontaneously drawing mecha it can turn out looking overly robotic, so that may have overshadowed this looking like actual armor. However, does this look better to you at all?

Yup, this is still a project I plan on finishing. One of many unfortunately
But, with work and all, I think I'll be more likely to finish stuff like this than start new projects...of course that's all "hopefully".
BUT, of all the things I'd really like to finish, this is on the top of the list.

The title's not bad, I kinda like it. Though whenever I see Sigma nowdays I think "OMGeez!1 Ninja GAIden Sigmaz!?!" xD
And I love the whole idea of having him run through a diagnostics check, you don't see too many pictures of that (come to think of it, I can only recall one :S) Can't wait to see the final

It's a concept in the sense that this isn't identical to the normal Mark VI armor, but you're right that it has a lot of simularities making it seem "accurate". One of the major differences is the helmet, but at this angle you can't tell so much. The next picture I do with this concept will show it off better.
*sigh* I guess the title is starting to seem okay to me now, it just didn't have that much thought put into it. Felt like a cheap shot. Add a greek word to something, it's gotta be good right?
Well the planned picture has the diagnostic not happening in a very practical manner, sort've seems alien. But that's the beauty of it, it's supposed to look like the wacky over-done concept art they do for sci-fi stuff.
Hope I don't sluff that off and it does get finished someday...

Heh, well I always pictured it with him being hooked up to all kinds of machines with wires everywhere, tech officers here and there. Of course I'd love to see how you pictured it, its probably a whole lot better than mine xD

Actually, that's pretty close. Throw in some little flashing lights reflecting across his armor, a coupla moniters with scans and system diagnostics running...and oh man I just had a new idea on how to do this O_o
I was originally gonna have it just be a routine check or maybe even testing new armor, and he's standing there with all the stuff around him, but I'm diggin' the idea of putting battle damage all over him and having him on an operating table with all this stuff hooked up now.

Then I play F.E.A.R completing it for the 4-th time and I'm very obsesed in those sort of images just now...

Originally he had a fat left thigh too, had to even that out. But you're right I was kinda tired when drawing the lineart, getting down to the calfs at the the ends of each leg I might've gotten a little sloppy

A combat pose will be a highly probable sketch for me to tackle in the future. Perhaps with some Covies based off their concept art in a similar manner

Hmmm...maybe I should wait to rename it until after I color it and whatnot in the distant future...it doesn't really show the armor being tested currently. I dunno what it shows right now...
