Continued from Pidgeot...

Seeing the fear in my eyes Katie laughed and assured me that we would be riding together and in all her years on the job, no one had ever fallen off.

After about 15 minutes of flight, we dropped down over the tree-line of the forest when we heard a distant cry. My first instinct was that it was another Pidgeot, but something sounded different. I turned, only to suddenly duck as a large beak snapped at my shoulder. Above us I managed to make out the shape of a large brown bird with a long neck and pointed beak... it was a Fearow!

Fearow are fiercely territorial and have been known to chase people and Pokemon out of their domain. Their long beaks are designed for fishing. They swoop over the surface of a lake and plunge their sharp, spear-like beak into unsuspecting prey. They have semi serrated edges that allow them to keep hold of their food, even in high-speed flight. They have also been seen sticking it into the ground in order to catch burrowing prey like Diglett.

We knew it wouldn’t give up as they are well known for their flight endurance. In a desperate attempt to shake the giant, she turned Mara toward the face of a cliff. Fearow are powerful fliers but they struggle with sharp turns, especially when climbing.

Just before hitting the rocky wall, Katie pulled back and Mara shot up the cliff like a skimming stone.

The Fearow panicked and turned just in time, dropping downward, catching the updraft, and gliding into the distance...
