I forgot I made this a while ago, just after Galarian Weezing was released and forgot to release it. Some of you know, I'm not the biggest fan of Galarian Weezing. Though I get exactly where the design inspirations came from, it felt too silly, top-heavy and over-designed for my taste. Similar to Alolan Dugtrio, it felt more like a playful joke rather than a serious design. Please don't start screaming at me in the comments, its just my personal opinion.
So I decided to make my own redesign/paint over. I made it a Fire/Water type, taking in water and turning it into steam inside its furnace-like body. Unlike their Kanto cousins, they eat coal and wood instead of sludge. This is Koffing and Weezing's original form before being altered by humans (hence no poison symbol). Instead of a sad painful expression, they are happy. They don't have horrible growths, but cheerful babies surrounding it and instead of poison, they emit clouds of hot steam.

But, dapper smoke tower top hat!! lol. No, I totally agree that the official design is ridiculous, as is Alolan Dug Trio. Like, the many hairstyles of Matthew McConaughey lmao. Also, your reasoning for this version is really wonderful. It's like a walking sauna pokemon lol. Adorable.

I mean I still think this is a great idea! They should make it that there are two Galarian Weezing that live in different areas. This one could live near an ocean vent and the official one would live in city areas.
Both are great nonetheless.

I like both, tbh - this is is still really neat, though! I do feel like maybe it could stand to be a bit more steampunk, but that's more my personal preference.

Another possibility could be this guy being Fire/Steel, with an aesthetic like an oldschool potbelly stove with the mouth being the grate.
