My partner and I were sent out to investigate a series of disappearances around series of lakes near the River Wyre.
Mostly reported were pets, dogs, and cats, but then a child went missing. A week or two later a body was found. The local Police reported in the local paper that the child had died from an animal attack, assuming a pack of wild dogs, but the coroners logged the cause of death as drowning which caught our eye.

We arrived just before dawn so as not to arouse suspicion with the locals and headed down to the lakeside where the child was last seen. With torchlight, we were quick to find a series of strange tracks. To an untrained eye, they might appear to be some kind of waterfowl, but the gait of the walk didn’t fit and strange claw marks surrounded the area.

My partner set bait on the shore chummed the water and set up camp. Around 7am, we heard a noise. As suspected, it was a Grindylow. Originally thought extinct, a number of cases popped up in the late ’70s with a series of fishermen and children being attacked. We cleaned out the area but Grindylow is known to have spawn that can gestate over several years. We had clearly missed some and they were spreading. The area was quickly quarantined under the guise of a chemical leak seeping into the local water supply and the lakes were purged.

THREAT LEVEL: 3 (AGGRESSIVE)

Large amphibious creatures with long sinewy arms and needle-like teeth. They hunt by staying in the shallows just offshore, often disguising themselves amongst pondweed and debris. They snatch their prey with their long arms and will drag them into deeper water to drown them.
Though generally not a threat to adults on their own, they have been known to attack in a group so be careful when approaching the water's edge.
