The forest was beautiful at this time of year. The air was thick with rich earthy smells as the sun warmed the moss on the ground and light streamed through the treetops creating stunning ‘god beams’ everywhere.

Suddenly I saw something catch the light through the trees. I dropped down and stayed very still, I didn’t want to startle it whatever it was. Slowly, I crept forward, keeping low and made my way around a large tree. Then I saw it. Appearing at the top of a mossy peak, a fully grown Ninetales! I was right! But what was it doing here?
It was rare to come across wild Ninetales unless you were near Firestone mines. The most famous were on Cinnabar Island, known for its grey desert, rocky mountains and volcanic lava pits.
To find one here meant one of two things. Either this Pokemon had gotten lost, or it had been abandoned. Unfortunately this was an all too common trait when it came to Fire type Pokemon as they often prove hard to handle and require a lot of training and expertise. Thankfully, I specialised in Fire types back at the Academy so I was well aware of the challenges they held.

It wasn’t long before it noticed me and froze, but it didn’t seem scared. She seemed to relax and eventually led down, fanning her tails behind her.
I sat with her for an hour and eventually she allowed me to stroke her. After that she seemed to become quite attached and rested her head on my lap. I pulled out a Pokeball and held it up. There was a quick flash as it scanned her followed by a small beep. It seemed she was no longer registered on the database. So, I pressed the button on the front and within a few seconds, she vanished inside.
