Description Oil on canvas, 35cm X 35 cm. Portrait of Jessie.

So after spending the best part of a year working on little pixel art guys at 64X64 pixels, I suddenly decided to paint an oil on a small square canvas WITHOUT realising till I was half way through why I might feel so comfortable with the format.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed at times.

This whole image is the same though, never really planned it just went with instinct, felt like what I need to do at the time.

So....yes. What does it all mean?

Beautiful work. The lines are so sharp (especially in the hair and fingers but elsewhere also), that it looks almost impossible that it was done with a brush! Very skillful and well done, congrats

thanks My brush work seems to be improving, lots of little tricks to the trade as it turns out, could have saved myself a lot of experimenting if I'd had a teacher I suspect.

This is amazing! I love everything about this drawing! Most of all I think the technique is flawless and the subject you've chosed to draw is very unusual (the angle) but that makes the painting more misterious.
