Description
EDIT 2:these tutorials suck, stop using them
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EDIT:
TAKE THESE TUTORIALS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT PLEASE. I made them years ago in the hopes of showing others how I drew these animals at the time. THE ANATOMY IS WAY OFF. You guys are more than welcome to use this as a baseline for how to start drawing using simple shapes to sketch first, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use REAL pictures of the animals you're attempting to draw as reference! Do NOT follow these tutorials step by step on how to draw the most anatomically correct figure. These get crazy views and faves TO THIS DAY. I don't want to be spreading misinformation. With that said, I plan on updating all of these at some point in the future.
PLEASE GO TO THE UPDATED VERSION HERE FOR REFERENCE! THIS VERSION IS OLD AND DERPY! THANK YA!
Anyways, FoxRodDraws was wondering if I could make a "profile view" tutorial for felines. So I did
Just when you have the motivation and inspiration to draw stuff, and instantly, all that pops like a bubble when you start doing it. Ugh, how do you maintain that kind of feeling when you draw? Please, tell me your secret! TuT
Ah that art block happens a lot, usually at the worst of times. But honestly the best answer I can give is to just keep pushing through it and draw draw draw! I was having a dry spell for about 2 weeks now and am juuust starting to come out of it. It gets frustrating as all hell when nothing you draw is satisfying or just not quite right. But believe it or not, these art blocks are a good thing! They show that you're improving, it's just that the "block" you're going through is you not being able to pinpoint what's wrong. Sometimes you never do "click" whatever was holding you back, but once you push through the art block, you've overcome that thing that stopped you in your tracks. A lot of my inspiration comes from music. So I'd also suggest finding something like that that'll give you little sparks of ideas and inspiration, it can be anything really. But the biggest thing is DON'T GIVE UP! Trust me when I say it can get to you and can be super frustrating to deal with these dry spells. But the best way to get through it is keep drawing, even if they're really quick and sloppy little doodles daily. You'll get through it c:
could you make a tutorial on how to shade the head?
π: 0 β©: 1
JustAutumn In reply to AwkwardlyAlive [2014-05-20 20:07:26 +0000 UTC]
Sorry for the late reply.
But with these tutorials, I'm mainly making the few generic ones on how I draw these animals. Besides drawing them, there's a bunch of different ways you can go about shading something. I would suggest looking up a generic shading tutorial (cuz there's plenty you can already find), and practice shading different shapes and forms, and then shading something like a feline head should just come naturally. I hope that helps c:
Could this tutorial work on things other than lions as well (with just a few added modifications?)
π: 0 β©: 1
JustAutumn In reply to Weesie97 [2012-09-12 22:08:55 +0000 UTC]
Like with other feline species? The basics, yeah. Like the breaking down of the animal to sketch it out. But to get the anatomy of different species, I would suggest looking up on Google the animal you want to draw, get used to their build, and so on. ^^
