Personality: Sandie is a fun-loving, gentle dog. She is full of energy and can be described as a tad hyperactive. Sandie is friendly to everyone she meets but a bit cautious when it comes to opening up or making them a true friend. Always helpful to others in need but she is shy around those she doesn't know. As she gets to know others better, she quickly loosens up and becomes her typical hyper-self. If she isn't talking or running around, something is wrong.

To humans, she appears a bit skittish at first, unsure of their intent, but with a soft voice and kind demeanor, Sandie will let just about anyone pet her. This though, only applies to female humans. Sandie fears male humans, especially those that wear large hats which hide their faces.

To female dogs, Sandie is stand-of-ish. She is slow to trust them but will talk to them if they are the ones to initiate the conversation. She may appear like a girly dog, but she actually is quite the opposite. She likes to have a nice appearance and look presentable, but she also loves to get down and dirty. This doesn't always go so well around other females, as they tend to not understand her.

To male dogs, Sandie can almost always get along with them just fine. Her tomb-boy personality and lack of fear to plunge into just about anything allows her to be herself around the other males. If a male was to poke fun at her though, she takes it very seriously. She may ignore it or take defense and get into a verbal argument with the male, as she isn't afraid to stand her ground around them.

Say something mean to her, either about her friends or herself, and you will be sure to get an earful. Sandie can't stand bullies, especially ones who purposefully hurt others.

Sandie is also a bit touchy. If she receives an unwelcomed pet from a human, and has given them fair warning, she will snap at them. She tends to hold back on human females, though. Human males will get the worst of her jaws. Dogs, on the other hand, will get a nice growl as a warning. If they ignore, she will fight until her opponent backs down. She isn't fond of losing a fight.

Background When Sandie was born, she awakened to find her mother and siblings all dead. Her mother had died giving birth, and her siblings had died from lack of food and water. Sandie was clinging to life, when a human male had found her. He brought her back to his home just outside of the local town Tombstone. Here, his own female dog, Lady, had just given birth to a litter of pups herself. He and Lady, nursed Sandie back to health and when she was old enough, he placed her in a box with the other pups, and left them on his porch to sell. Sandie was quickly picked up by another man in a hat who was looking for good dogs to take up to Alaska with him and use for his sled team.

When they reached their destination, the man had gathered up 5 other dogs for his team. He immediately began their training, but not the good kind of training. He used negative reinforcement and would abuse Sandie and the other dogs. He would leave them chained up with no food and little water that quickly froze in the cold weather. It didn't take long for other members in the town to hear and see the abuse going on. This, caused Sandie to fear human men. Her experience with him had caused her to become wary and suspicious of all human males.

The man, unable to successfully train all of his dogs, gave up on his endeavor, abandoned them just outside of town and returned to tombstone. Shortly after, Sandie and the others had split up. Each found new owners, whom simply wanted a nice pet or lap dog.

Sandie, on the other hand, was picked up by a human Female named Claudette. She saw the potential in Sandie and her drive to want to work. Sandie had finally found a true home and an owner who she respected instead of feared. This sparked a light inside of her, making her willing to do anything to please her human and make them proud. When linked to the sled, Sandie is bold, strong and serious. Un-linked, she is your everyday, fun-loving, ball-fetching, tug-of-war playing dog.
