(so I had this entire thing written out and right when I was about to submit it, dA bugged out and I lost all the writing I had just completedName: Stella

Faction: Farm Dogs
Rank: (Lead Dog
Family: N/A
Mate: N/A
Color: Red Merle
Defining Features: Docked tail is somewhat noticeable under her fur, bi-colored eyes, right is light green and left is ice blue, spots on both sides of her muzzle.
Personality: (Stella lives to work. She doesn't just live it, she loves it. Born and raised a herder, she knows what it takes to work hard and live well. She excels at herding and is always eager to learn and responds to commands easily from her handler. Stella believes that you can't achieve your goals without working hard. Those who don't work hard, are not the kinds of people or dogs she likes to associate herself with.
Stella is generally a very friendly and outgoing individual. When she meets someone new, she treats them with the upmost respect and expects the same in return. If the respect isn't reciprocated, Stella will distance herself from them and avoid them at all costs. Stella holds herself to set morals and finds that anyone not doing the same, is someone she actually pity's.
When Stella becomes good friends with someone, she provides exceptional loyalty and kindness. She will treat her close friends like family and often refers to them as such.
Stella has an adventurous side to her. When the day is done, and the stock has been herded, Stella likes to explore new sights, sounds and smells. Although, she tends not to stray too far from home, she travels farther and farther every night. This can sometimes get her into trouble, though. She will obtain little sleep for the following days work and sometimes slip up on her job. Yet, she will always find a way to make up for it and get the job done. This can sometimes lead her to taking naps on her breaks throughout the day.
Pre-Group History: Stella's family has always worked and lived their entire lives with a single family. When she was just a pup, Stella and her siblings were all trained and trialed out to see who would be the family's next herding dog. Stella out-matched all her siblings with her uncanny drive to work and please. Her siblings were all sold to other family friends and interested buyers, after which, she didn't see any of her brothers or sisters again. Although she missed them, she was happy to have been the lucky one who was chosen to stay with the human family and live up to her relatives history of perfection.
When she was just a young pup, Stella was out practicing her herding techniques with some of the families chickens. A junkyard dog, who was on the look-out for an easy meal, was waiting patiently for Stella to leave so he could pounce on the juicy birds. Stella, though, being such a determined little worker, wouldn't leave in sufficient time for the impatient junkyard dog. The much larger Rottweiler jumped the fence of the chicken coop and attacked Stella, biting down on her neck in hopes to not kill her, but keep her at bay so he could take some of the chickens. Luckily, Stella's father was nearby, and heard his daughters cries of pain. He immediately went to action to fend off the Rottweiler whom only successfully took off with one of their chickens.
To hide her daughters scars, Mary(Stella's mother) gave Stella her very own pink bandana. Since then, Stella has never taken it off, in fear of being judged as a bad dog for not keeping the chickens safe and being more alert to her surroundings. As a leader, Stella forbids any interaction with junkyard dogs, and demands that all of them be chased away on sight.
Outside of herding, the children have been teaching Stella to be a disc dog and hope to compete in upcoming competitions in both herding and Frisbee. The Frisbee is a nice get away from her day-to-day herding job, yet, still makes her feel like she is needed.
As Stella continued to grow, she realized that there was little order, outside of the humans individual influence, on the group of Farm dogs in her area. This lead her to slowly begin to take on a leadership role among them. She would organize meetings, make sure everyone was doing their jobs properly and just check in on everyone once in a while.
She didn't become an official leader though, until she the day she saw her friend die. It was just an accident, but one that could have been avoided. One of the hunters dog had been chasing a fox, hell-bent on catching the little red thing. Stella's family friend, Monty, a little Chihuahua given to her humans daughter as a birthday gift, had been out and about playing with the little girl. Stella was, of course, too busy herding the sheep to notice the fox and the hunters dog erupt from the bushes and go bounding down the hillside. The hunter's dog didn't notice the little Chihuahua at the bottom of the slope and ended up trampling right over him. Monty's small size and the speed in which the hunters dog was traveling was enough to smash Monty right in front of the young girl.
All Stella heard from that day was the yelp from Monty and the cries of terror from the little girl. It was not a day that Stella ever wanted to re-live. She blamed herself for not noticing the fox or the other dog. Stella believed that simple communication among the different groups of farm dogs could have prevented Monty's death. This is what lead her to step up entirely as a leader.
It didn't take long for the other dogs to notice how her slight changes in communication had bought order to the world around them. It had been so many years since the Farm Dogs had a lead that they weren't used to having anyone take order other than the humans. Some of the dogs, not able to adjust so quickly to her sudden leadership position, began to question her sincerity for stepping up for such a role. Many of the dogs grew to doubt Stella and rumors spread like wildfire.
Yet, no one could doubt the changes made had started an upturn of higher production and better work from all the different farm dogs tasks. Although she was questioned, Stella had not backed down from trying to make the Farm dogs better all around. She was determined, and through her tenacity, some of the dogs grew to be able to compromise with her and some even liked her authority.
Even with all the inquisition, Stella has remained in leadership due to her uncanny ability to work hard trying to better her community. She also has taken on the new goal of getting all of the other farm dogs to simply respect her as a leader. (although, she knows its practically impossible to make everyone like her)
