So this last year I've been reading through all the original volumes of the more adult oriented Ninja Turtles comics that started with the Mirage series, went over to Image and then went back to Mirage before landing eventually at IDW. It's been interesting, a lot of the comics are hit or miss honestly with some classics thrown in that are great TMNT tales, but volume 2 under the Image label is not considered canon because the Turtle creators had some issues with the rather bizarre direction Image took the characters, so they struck it. Among them Donatello became a cyborg, Leonardo lost an arm, and Raphael actually took over leadership of the Foot, wearing the Shredder's armor and everything.

That was actually the only storyline I really liked, because it felt the most appropriate to the character. I could actually see Raph beating the Foot into submission and trying to use them for good purposes. I redesigned the armor a little to reflect the movie Shredder because it looks better than the design they used in the comic. Raph also lost his left eye at an earlier point in the comic in case you were wondering why the pirate eye patch.
