Mothra has been like a lot of kaiju for me, I like her a lot but I've never really been in love with her. That isn't to say though that I don't love some of the movies she's in, and I do adore the Shobijin fairies and the musical themes Mothra has. So the funny story is that I went to King Of The Monsters 2019 expecting more of the same, that I would enjoy her but not really care much that Mothra was in the film. Imagine my surprise (SPOILERS BELOW.......)

when I saw the movie and almost cried when Mothra struggled to climb onto Godzilla and protect him from Ghidorah's wrath. It was such a great moment that evoked the spirit of the old films absolutely perfectly, and definitely made me appreciate the old bug just a little bit more. The figure does a great job of capturing her look, and since it's in scale it's a pretty dinky body Mothra has but the translucent wings are beautiful in the sunlight, the included base is gorgeous and considering my only real gripe with the toy is that Neca failed to deliver the larva mini-figure they had accidentally included pictures of when they sent out images to the retailers just means that it's a pretty solid piece added to the KOTM collection.

To answer both, yes it's out, I picked this up at my local Gamestop.
And no, sadly it doesn't come with the larva, I was very upset by that as well. Neca said that the larva didn't pass "final approvals", so it was never going to be included in the final figure, but they neglected to inform anyone of this after months of the retailers showing pictures of it in the pre-orders. Buuuuut a certainly industrious Kaijukid is currently sculpting something that looks a lot like a particular missing larva figure sooooo.......
