In my ongoing quest to complete my Monsterverse figure collection I thought we'd dip into the graphic novels, Godzilla: Awakening in this case. Shinomura is a nice spin on the whole Hedorah/Destroyah concept of a creature made up of trillions of smaller creatures that turn into a deadly, poisonous or otherwise lethal swarm. The graphic novel gets too much guff in my opinion so far as the plot goes, but I will say I was never impressed with the artistic depictions of the fights, because they don't show a solid progression of the fights, just static images of the monsters....standing there, basically, or oddly falling out of the sky, but I do like Shinomura as a concept and it would have been cool to see in an actual film. I just wasn't confident enough to try and make it as a custom until I figured out more tricks with the sculpting, but I'm pretty happy with this one.

I find Shinomura as among the most original Godzilla kaiju ever created since the Monsterverse's creation. And the only one with the most original name. That figures is really well done, fella!! Good job

Thanks, I've felt the monster has been rather underrated since the comic came out, but the fans who know definitely like it. In a perfect world all the Titans and MUTOs would get action figure representation but until then....

Honestly a lot of people do. The comic became a big point to me to notice when certain fans were being too stuck up for their own good. I won't name the jerk but there's a fairly popular website which caters to Godzilla news and one of the writers and moderators went out of their way to lampoon the Awakening comic as "garbage" that he basically wouldn't wipe himself with, which made me grasp how utterly snobby some fans truly are. The book's not perfect but seriously? Appreciate what you get, man, because so long as it definitively doesn't completely piss on the material it's a GIFT to get anything, at least that's how a lot of us felt in the dark years between 2004 and 2014. But I liked Shinomura and was glad it apparently got mentioned in the King of the Monsters novelization (haven't finished reading it yet, on the to-do list).

Thanks, it's a nice lead up to other stuff on the list that are going to be similarly complicated to sculpt but I think we're ready for them.
