I'm happy to say this is a case where patience pays off. With fans everywhere and scalpers eating up the newly release Monsterverse Mechagodzillas it was pretty much impossible to get these at what I would call anywhere near reasonable prices, but I refused to give in to Ebay scalpers. I signed up for Wal-Mart's email notifications to let me know when these were back in stock but naturally by the time those automated emails got out the stock was already gone, and I just resigned myself to not getting hold of a Mechagodzilla until my store at some unknown future date finally got them in. Then randomly I went to the Wal-mart website, saw the Giant Mechagodzillas in stock and just jumped on it, because it meant I was going to be able to get one for me and my little brother for less than HALF of what it would have cost to get one scalped online, and thankfully I got the order in before they yet again went out of stock.

As for the figure itself it's what you'd expect from Playmates, sturdy toy and the details are ok, but it's primarily made for kids to play with, not adult collectors to relish the fine detailing but honestly it's still a nice looking mega-figure for all that. For $20 it really is a good toy and the Giant scale makes it feel even better to appreciate how it looks on the shelf. The only other version of this character I would be interested in getting at some point would be a Bandai vinyl because I am devoted to that line and I'd like to see how they do this design in 6 inch scale.

This won't go down as my favorite looking Mechagodzilla, but honestly it does fit in well with the Monsterverse aesthetic and and I can't wait to see it in action, which is one more week as of this writing.
