Luckily I saw Rodan on TV once on AMC back in the mid-2000s, before they lost the rights to air most of the stuff from the 50s and 60s era.

Truth! Β It's a fantastic movie to introduce audiences to the concept of kaiju being more than just dumb rampaging beasts. Β It moved me greatly as a small boy, the tragedy behind the monstrosity.

Pretty awesome stuff. There certainly needs to be more air-fights in kaiju movies. I think the last one there was, was King Ghidorah in 91. And that was....well....less than impressive lol.

It's the ideal Couples Cosplay, and the film was probably the best-paced of anything from the Showa era.

It's a really golden example of what the era had to offer, the amazing craftsmanship under tight budget conditions and taking on new ideas for their films. Β I don't rewatch Rodan enough, it deserves far more accolades than it typically receives from the common audience.

When you were doing this, did you by any chance notice any difference between the male and female rodans?

I don't know if Toho distinguished the sexes in any overt way, I just found the best shots of the original suits and puppets I could to work off of. Β I suspect there may have been subtle differences but it didn't cross my mind to check.
