My friends over at Facebook wanted me to give an interpretation of the Legendary Godzilla after the video leak today, so I decided to have some fun with it. I don't pretend this is incredibly accurate to the final creature, that video was bloody dark XDRelated content

Pretty damn accurate to the real thing. Skin should be moderately darker and the eyes don't have whites, but other than that...

Not sure on the skin, the "Tail poster" from SDCC had the scale hue pretty light grey, I wasn't sure just how dark to make it at all.Β *looks at watch, waits for a bloody official teaser or full body shot poster.....*

Muahahahaha! There's two American Godzillas now! Excuse my misspelling, there's only one American Godzilla, and that's probably the guy to the right. Since EVERYONE will call the Legendary Godzilla "American Godzilla", the name will be invalid for Zilla, and thus, more people will call Zilla by the name he legally received from Toho with the cancelleation of his Trademark and the establishment of a new one: Zilla! I hope people call Zilla by "Zilla" than by "Gino", because if you're going to call Zilla "Gino", you might as well call him "Godzilla USA" because that name has actually been used, Gino has never been used and it's just a nickname for people who don't believe/know about/have been persuading into not believing about the name change, plus there's a lot of evidence to prove the name change and arguments like "Why is the movie and animated series called Godzilla still?" (Movies and animated series can't be renamed after being released for years) and "Why is the trademark still being used in the back of the DVD?" (It's in there, but you seem to ignore that the Trademark for it has been cancelled and replaced with "ZILLA") and "Why did Shogo Tomiyama call it "Hollywood Godzilla all through the interview?" (Obviously to make everything easier to understand as Final Wars had not yet been released nor had the GODZILLA 1998 Trademark been cancelled) don't disprove anything. So yeah, Zilla's his oficial name, I'd love for people to call Zilla that forever, and for people to call the Legendary Godzilla not "Legendary Godzilla" or "Godzilla 2014" or "Warner Brothers Godzilla" or "Gareth Edwards Godzilla", but just "American Godzilla", so this whole Zilla being called that thing can be eliminated as quickly as possible. Seriously, Toho Kingdom and Sci-Fi Japan need to rename their Zilla 98 articles from "Godzilla US" and "Godzilla" to "Zilla" and "Zilla Junior"... but I won't hold my breath for TK, because they name their articles after what they were called in their appearance, and I know for sure that Zilla was never called "Godzilla US", only "Godzilla USA", but this leads me to ask the following question: What will they call the American Godzilla? Will it be "Godzilla 2014" or what? Because calling it that would seriously be pointless as Zilla doesn't own the "Godzillla US" title, neither does the American Godzilla, but that's my point, Zilla shouldn't even be called Godzilla US, it should just be Zilla 1998, simple, no major changes at all, just a change in URL and changing a few words. *sigh* Sorry for going on but this drawing was packed with energy and stuff for me. Thanks for drawing it! It's a drawing that everyone needed. I like Zilla, but I can find humor in this, I don't hate Zilla at all. He's cool. His design is the most praised thing about him (even though people-- strike that, Goji purists STILL, 15 years later, complain that it doesn't look like Godzilla). Also, Zilla Junior is awesome. He's actually LIKE Godzilla, but the name change affects him too because he used the same Trademark and was called the same as his father. Well, I fear this comment is getting overwhelmingly long. With Zilla 1998 gone that leaves two American Godzilla's in our wake the first being Godzilla 2014 and the second one being The Asylum's Mega Shark.

You know it's interesting, I keep seeing the Bear-Goji/Zilla phrase today.Β I thought the preview made him look more like a crocodile.Β I'm interested what nickname he's gonna get stuck with once the final design is clearly seen.

The concept model was said to have been designed after a bear, while the bust had more crocodilian traits.Β The Godzilla seen in the Godzilla Encounter event more resembled the concept model, but apparently none of them are the final design.Β

No, he didn't deserve to be thrown into a film with Broderick..and he didn't deserve being turned into an iguana, either, but with news of a "possible" crocodile origin..well, I'm just gonna wait and see..however..I still feel this is a VAST improvement over the `98 version. Zilla has grown on me as well so I understand the love, but it just wasn't..er, 'right' to me. And they killed him at the end, which was just wrong.Β

As for this rendition, while the dark desert-camo skin tone may have to grow on me, I'm digging that bull neck & rugged skull, and those heavy scutes are actually quite nifty. Hoping the general torso proportions aren't too GMK/Heisei-derived, but otherwise I could live with this.

In my twisted, multi-kaiju filled world, there's a lot of monsters to poke fun of, like Gigan the cowardly scoundrel, drunken 50-ft Woman, and Leatherback secretly being that one baby's daddy!
But yeah, we all can't help ourselves from doing the Zilla humor sometimes.
