It's the tail. To be honest, I thought it was bone b/c I was under the impression the new look was due to the fact Gojira was still recovering the nuclear blast that hit him from 50 years ago.

Not as crazy as what was depicted in the film; but that was the impression I got when I caught my first glimpse of Shin Gojira (It looked like to me they were going for a Walking Dead look)

The tail thing does bug me, but I'm not going to rage about it.
Also, the mother with her daughter in the corner reminds me of the scene from the original that broke my heart.

Geez that tail really looks alive here, but many still claim its not a face. I believe it isnt a face if only cause its a jumble of humanoid skeletons.

Actually I havent heard such confirmation, as this structure that looks like a face does not go all the way around the tail, and the other side of the tail has no such feature as jawbones or eye sockets. And given how many skeletons come out of Godzilla's tail at the end of the movie, I simply jostled it up to the fact that the end of the tail is a hodgepodge of bones of various kinds...
Down to it, I think Anno did this on purpose to get people thinking a lot on this tail.

I saw what looks like a jawbone and teeth, yes, but I see no obvious eye. I have seen the tail all the way around, and these structures do no mirror on the other side of the tail.

I suspect you're still wrong because better channels have reported the dates as being accurate, but I would appreciate it if you'd just let it go,ok?Β You're one of those fans that gets all angry and has "a point to prove", and I don't really care for that attitude.Β Until I hear otherwise I'm marking my calendar for October 11th, which is when my area theater has it set as a showing time.Β If it's wrong, it's wrong, but your comment out the gate seemingly exasperatedΒ over "don't know why everyone is getting so excited" was rather inconsiderate, to be honest.Β When an artist puts a lot of work into a picture and all that catches your attention is my excitement over the upcoming release and you feel the need to prove it wrong, it would probably be best if you just didn't say anything at all.

I don't really know what to think about the new design.Β I mean, sure, it's Anno, and such things should be expected, but...eh, they alter the design every movie, why make a fuss.
(It's not as if the implications of the metroplex being hit aren't bad enough, it would make the 1923 earthquake seem mild by comparison.Β It's not a "Lost Decade," it's an "Obliterated Decade" and then some.Β Gods forbid what it would do to geopolitics down the road.)

It's like I've said before, I grew warm on this design pretty quickly after my initial complaints, but I would like the next Godzilla to look a lot different and keep playing with new designs.Β This is a good one off look, but I wouldn't want to see it over and over again.
