I'm gonna be trying to make one painting a week when I can, because I've long delayed my childhood dream of making kaiju paintings on as a regular hobby and want to keep that train going. The subject for this week is one of my favorite moments from Godzilla 2014 and one of the things the movie needed; a silent, symbolic moment where a good man and a monster regard each other in different ways. For Brody we assume he sees that Godzilla is not giving up in the face of death, that even though he knows Godzilla cares nothing about humanity that he's not a danger like the MUTO, but rather an honorable warrior fighting for what it knows to be its duty. It's a moment I think of when I'm tired of trying, because sometimes when you just want to give up it helps to awaken the monster within.Kaijukid Comics website: www.kaijukidcomics.com/

They knew they were the only ones who could restore the balance of the world. Both risked everything to win and fully expected to die there, but they proved that pure courage and resolve triumph in the end. Their hearts were connected. It was as if they were meant to fight as one and prove to the M.U.T.O.S. that humanity was indeed their natural enemies and that the balance of nature must be preserved.

Maybe so, I just like the approach of the Big G as the neutral top dog but who has a soft spot for us weak little things similar to the latter Showa films. Sorry for the late reply, got heckuva busy over Christmas

It was cool to see Godzilla take even a passing interest in one of us, we who are merely scurrying little critters at his feet to him, for even a moment....Even if the one he took notice of was the WORST aspect of the entire film, Ford "I'm duller than drying wallpaper" Brody XD. Excellent work here man, great details on Godzilla's face, like the scar over his upper lip and snout.

Thanks man. The most annoying thing about this painting was actually the source pics I painted it from. The movie is SO DARK I had to run my screencaps through my art program and brighten the hell out of them just to see the finer details before I could even start the art rendering. But it's a great moment and I just wanted to give it a little justice.

Old Man Goji. Seen many wars, walked away from them all, tired but never to die. I like that aspect of his reboot origin for Legendary, that he's old as as the ages and just keep fighting the fight he doesn't even fully understand. There's a poetic sentiment to it.

I imagine after the San Francisco attacks Sam becomes obsessed with Titans and begins studying them as he gets older, until he eventually joins MONARCH, who has managed to reverse engineer the ORCA to translate Titan calls into human words and vice-versa. When he first meets Godzilla the first thing he says to him is 'Thanks for saving my dad.'

It was as if, in that moment, Ford felt Godzilla was telling silently "Never stop fighting."
