I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon, since everyone ELSE seems to be doing it
Not to mention it makes a nice New Years treat!The early reports of the new Godzilla design described it as "fat." A crude description at best, but when I saw the blurry photograph at the top-right there, I imagined that the design direction wasn't so much corpulent as it was "thick."
"Monstrously thick" were the words that came to mind. A mountain of a creature, unbelievably powerful and undeniably unstoppable. I approached this hypothetical design in a similar fashion to a paleontologist's anatomical reconstructions - using the little information I had, not to mention the previous works of as inspiration, this is what I'm anticipating to be lurking behind all that blurr and smoke.

Too flashy. Godzilla is suppose to be scary, not flashy! Monsters are meant to be scary, not flashy. If it did, the meaning behind it wouldn't follow it at all.

I think this design is possibly the most accurate interpretation of the new design.
In my opinion the trailer made his appearance look like a fusion of the american and japanese versions.

I just recently saw the teaser trailer.. and it looks awesome.. but there are twoΒ questions in my mind.. how will Godzilla look.. and what will the other kaiju be?Β

It looks like Mothera's offspring, but I'm not too sure. I hope they make a series on this new Godzilla. I'd like to see him fight King Gidorah in this style.

According to what i've heard it's some sort of centipede monster, but it does have some reptilian qualities. Also thanks for putting the link to that trailer up I hadn't seen this one till now.

Realistically, thick legs would be needed to support his massive weight, so contrary to looking good, I think this would be the perfect design, although they did already release an official one.

Man. Big G really let himself go. Hopefully the Kaiju in this movie will give him some exercise to lose that beer belly. Also, good design overall, the legs just kinda weird. I'd prefer that he would look more like you GN Ghost Godzilla.

Wasn't it recently it announced? I heard that the nicknamed 'Bear Godzilla' model was more or less confirmed as Godzilla's appearance in the new movie.

I've done a little looking again, and I still think you came the closest to the concepts seen, as well as what the final version may be, if the movie poster is any indication.Β It looks like they took a little inspiration from the tail of this speculative design for the final design.Β Either way, what we're getting is going to be the real Godzilla.

oh god this is badass. I have to say if the movie Godzilla is at all similar to this design, probably would be my favorite yet. for once he actually looks more like a dinosaur and has the muscle mass to make his power believableΒ

I personally like this design. They seem to be taking the original Japanese version and giving it a bit of the "Zilla" twist from the god-awful american Godzilla. I like how hes hunched over much like a Trex instead of standing upright and his arms look just as much as a threat than any other feature. I would prefer if they made his head abit bigger and thin the neck abit because honestly, I loved the Zilla design. It was just how Godzilla was handled in that film that made it so bad.
Me and a few friends were joking about this movie, saying it would be awesome if Pacific Rim had a post credit or after credit scene of Godzilla rising from the depths. What do you think, Pacific Rim bot fighting the King of Kaiju?

I really pray this is how Godzilla looks like. It looks different but keeps the overall impression of the Big G himself. I can only imagine Godzilla as a big hulking giant rather than something fast like a raptor.

I kinda hope the final design ends up looking like this.
It compliments the original, and yet makes it majestic and grand enough in scale for the Western audience to appreciate it...

Amazing, i wouldn't say he's fat; i'd say from a paleontologist point of view it looks just right. Though i'm curious about the spikes on the side of the tail. Wish i could have seen the teaser at comicon.
