Part of a series of designs for , one of the most agreeable kaiju fans I've had the pleasure of meeting

ADDENDUM: Allow me to elaborate on the creative process -
The directive was "Godzilla Raids Again," and that was about it. Immediately, I thought of the contrast between Godzilla and Anguirus, and how, according to a few eye-witness accounts, the Gyakushu-Goji was something of a gray-green, maybe a little on the brown side, as Godzilla was frequently depicted in promotional art at the time. So, I ran with a much more desaturated brownish-Godzilla, which gives him a toned-down, yet still ancient and menacing palette to contrast Anguirus, who was reportedly a mix of blues and reds!
As for the body, I also was reminded of how much slimmer and agile Gyakushu-Goji was when compared to Shodai-Goji (the original Godzilla), and it wasn't a far leap to Finaru-Goji (from Final Wars) as well. Naturally, I wanted to squeeze in some elements of GINO and the Delgado-Goji to give him a sleek, fast and strong look - the perfect fighting machine. However, most importantly, I wanted Godzilla to be proud and noble, with a puffed-out chest, and his head held high, but with a slight incline to indicate his saurian bone structure.
I also decidedly wanted to involve his fearsome breastbone, something rarely elaborated on in past Godzilla designs - That prominent breastbone is usually why so many Godzilla toys have a light silver tone on the chest. It gives him a bit more balance too, and allows for his front visage to have some variety.
I specifically referenced Mosu-Goji for the face, with some gangly teeth ala the Gyakushu/Mire-Goji's. The spines are a personal touch, developed from Godzilla Neo's. The tail is, obviously, Delgado-Goji inspired with a crocodilian flair.

Anguirus next!

This depiction of Godzilla, like the famous Godzilla Neo series, truly captures fans' imaginations and depicts the king of monsters in a look were almost no other daikaiju has gone. It is much more accurate and dinosaurian than the other suits, which makes sense since he is a mutated dinosaur; his legs are now more like theropod legs, which might make him faster than before. Then again, some of the classics were kept on the design, such as the upright balance, the dog-like face, and the chest. I think the spines, extra spikes, and bony sternum area makes Godzilla more menacing. Again, Godzilla in this picture really defines how a kaiju would look if it really existed and captures our imaginations.

I agree with you, he looks more real, if he were real, as a daikaiju.

This concept does an outstanding job of portraying the original Godzilla's ferocity and raw power and combining it with the second Godzilla's sleekness and streamlined design. It brings them both to a medium that would make it easier for the actor to operate in the suit yet doesn't obscure the fact that it is meant to be a giant, raging monster that can level entire cities. This concept is definitely one that I am sure Toho would consider using in a movie. Although the colors could have been just a tad bit more polished up around the edges, but I am not complaining about that. Sir, you did an excellent job taking a well-known icon and fine-tuning him in such a way that he looks more distinguished and refined than ever before.

You know, I have no clue why the first EnglishΒ translation of Godzilla Raids Again called it Gigantis the Fire Monster, when "Gigantis" is CLEARLY Godzilla from the previous movie which the USA called Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

i have 2Β theories

theory #1 maybe there was anotherΒ giant monster movie being made at the same time
as Godzilla Raids Again and the names got mixed up

theory #2 Gigantis was the original english name for Anguirus before it was changedΒ

Or maybe those English-speakers never learned how to remember. They just had a hard time learning how to breathe.

Fabulous work. A subtle combination of all the elements you wanted to incorporate and more. The horned spikes along the spine to the tail look absolutely lethal, you dare not hug the sexy beast. I like it and you deserve a 10/10. I'd like to critique your work but I'm busy taking my overaged sci-fi sistas/bros to GODZILLA (2014). There are flaws but the film is very well done and I'm going back for seconds. Thank you for sharing. Cheers.Β Β Β

I wonder why Godzilla looks so natural in green when he almost never appears green in the movies. It seema like cartoon looking characters can get away with it while live action suits can't.
