Description
I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon, since everyone ELSE seems to be doing itThe early reports of the new Godzilla design described it as "fat." A crude description at best, but when I saw the blurry photograph at the top-right there, I imagined that the design direction wasn't so much corpulent as it was "thick."
"Monstrously thick" were the words that came to mind. A mountain of a creature, unbelievably powerful and undeniably unstoppable. I approached this hypothetical design in a similar fashion to a paleontologist's anatomical reconstructions - using the little information I had, not to mention the previous works of as inspiration, this is what I'm anticipating to be lurking behind all that blurr and smoke.

Only criticism i have with this picture is the fact Godzilla looks fat. Any speculation as to where Godzilla will attack in the upcoming movie?

Of all the Godzilla related art that I've seen so far that I would like to see put on screen this one made it to my top list. This Godzilla has the traditional & necessary traits that kind of remind me of the one from the heisei era (Which is my favorite among the other eras) and that is being physically opposing and a force to be reckon with.
Well done!!!

I'm glad. He looks like a hunchback and there's no middle row of fins to give it asthetic balance.

Here's hoping that The King does live up to this. It is probably better for the whole film to just be about him. But if he must put on the gloves and get in the ring then I do hope that it is either Ghidorah, or if we are feeling really daring, Kiryu that he battles. However, it would be nice to see an entirely new beastie like what Biollante or Orga did when opening the Heisei and Millennium series. However, all of these kaiju have been immortalized. How could we not go back to the classics?

You know, it just occured to me why Godzilla is often drawn with such big feet - so that his weight is more evenly distributed.
In a way, it acknowledges and defies the square cube law at once!

I don't know. While it would be the most plausible way of reintroducing him I'd to see him stripped of his personality and everything that made him endearing and made nothing more then a robo suit

it could be done. Just it'd take a little ingenuity. Kinda like how my buddy did his own redesign. [link] Though they'd probably remove his trademark grin.

I Love it! But, the one thing I'm noticing is that everyone thinks that entire shadow is its neck. I can see a change in coloration partway through, so perhaps it isn't as fat as people claim it is.

This is actually what i thought the king of monsters should have looked originally anyways. A giant, Jugernaut of armor and muscle. A beast of legend that even the gods had reason to fear. The epitomy of a dragon. Godzilla.

Head seems too small, neck seems too thick. Looks kind of like Godzilla's body with Zilla's head and a really fat neck.
Not criticizing your work, just a little upset that this is what you, probably the best and most well-known Godzilla fan-artist on the web, gets out of what we've seen of the 2014 Godzilla. No fault of yours, just the fault of the actual designers.

Great work, but damn those are big feet, lol. I was hoping for something a little Sleaker in the film but staying true to the Godzilla look, but I suppose huge Tree Trunk feet make sense on something so big.

The only things that prevented me from liking the Japanese Godzilla were its stance and its origins.
The japanese godzilla was portrayed as a dinosaur that mutated into an even bigger dinosaur.
Original? Sort of.
Realistic? HELL NO.
That is why I liked the American Godzilla, aka Zilla, because Zilla's origins were realistic, instead of a dinosaur it was a marine iguana, even though the plot was terrible.
Of course, Legendary Pictures, the same people who made 300, now owns Godzilla, so I'm anxious to see how they'll portray it's appearance.
But unless they make the Japanese Godzilla more LIKE a dinosaur, I will always favor Zilla over Godzilla.
P.S. If you wanted a truly realistic Godzilla, why not use Spinosaurus?
