Between Indominus as a genetically engineered monster, a mosasaurus the size of a blue whale, and the general Godzilla-like reverence afforded to Roberta, I'm pretty comfortable calling Jurassic World a kaiju film.

What exactly is your definition of what makes a monster a "Kaiju", I'm honestly curious on how different people interpret the term. I personally associate it with certain rules:
- The monster most be within 100 ft in height (With certain body types of monsters, this can be associated with length instead such as Anguirus)
- They have to be unkillable by basic man-made weaponry such as either firearms, tanks, and missiles. They can be harmable by such but overall ineffective.Β
- If they are giant-sized versions of an animal, they need to have something extra added to them that separates them from the regular animal. This can range from the process of the monster's origin, added abilities/attacks, or difference in overall body structure.Β
A monster usually has to fit some form of combination of these rules in order to be classified as a Kaiju in my point of view. It's for this reason why I almost never considered King Kong a Kaiju except for the Toho Version or the Legendary Version.

A giant monster. Literally anything that can reasonably be described as a giant monster. Ymir, Indominus Rex, Lizzie George and Ralph, Kong, Octalus, Knifehead, Baragon, Gorgo, Rhedosaurus, Nancy Archer, Ultraman, Vermithrax, The Red Death, Roberta. Hell, the scorpion from Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.
I don't really have a minimum size. Writing and cinematography can make something seem SO much bigger, or SO much smaller than it really is. T.rex wasn't really all that big, and yet iRex and Roberta both feel earth-shaking. Hell, the Rampage crew seem to swing between being ten and fifty feet tall, depending on the game and the artwork.

But the Indominus Rex is only about 5 feet (At most) bigger than a T-Rex and the scorpion (From HISTK) is still the size of a normal scorpion. That kind of contradicts being in the realms of a "giant" monster, also it is highly emphasized that Ultramen are separate from Kaiju.

Well, Roberta is a kaiju, by my definition, so Iddy being ANY amount bigger than her is more than enough to qualify her as a kaiju too.
And yes, the scorpion is just a normal scorpion. But the writing frames it as a giant monster. That's my point.
