I've actually thought about this for awhile, and since EBC's back open again and I'm around actually posting art again, I'd love to stick Mar back in his old canon group. He'll be the only one of my past EBC characters returning though since he was the youngest (without any connections to past leaders) when I was last there.

Basics:
Name: Marcellus
Nicknames: Mar (Though he prefers only those he's close to or those older/higher in rank than him use this)

Age: started: around 2 months; current: 5 years
Species: Caracal (Caracal caracal)

Personality:
At a glance: Brave, protective, loyal, outgoing, easily distracted, a show off, impatient

For a feline only a few inches taller than a modern day house cat, Marcellus is a charmer. He's outgoing and friendly, smart and clever, loyal and brave—the perfect combination of charisma and bravery for a feline who's way of life is survival in the harsh reality of the Empire. Though where there's appeal, there's also the not so appealing side of his personality, too.

Mar's been known to have a bit of a sharp tongue, often not thinking about what he's saying and its consequences before he decides to speak his piece of mind. In the past, this habit's gotten him into some pretty tight situations and tense arguments, though nothing his quick thinking and wit couldn't slip him out of! He tends to be easily distracted and a bit impatient, though with age and a life that's taken him away from the Empire for awhile, he's slowly starting to understand the importance of being in a group.

Mar's a proven fighter though and will do anything to protect those he's shown himself to!

Background:
Born the only son to a caracal pair within the coliseums, Marcellus' future was supposed to be a life just like his father's: that of a fighter trapped to battle for the entertainment of humans. As a small cat, he was slated to be used for 'prey' for the larger, more prized species kept within the city's wall as soon as he was old enough to put up a decent show. His future never should've been longer than a couple ears at most, evident by his father's death just a few weeks after Mar's birth. Thankfully though, out of desperation and fear for her new family's future, Marcellus' mother managed to escape the confines of the city to carry her kit to a (hopefully safer) new life.

Unfortunately, Marcellus' mother only lived a few months after their escape however, never finding the Empires before being picked off by a band of patrolling Bounty Hunters. Left abandoned waiting on his mother's return, a small Marcellus was forced to wander the territories just outside the Empires looking for anything he could find. Food was hard to come by for a kit that was barely old enough to catch grasshoppers on his own, but a passing patrol for Lightning Empire managed to find the small cub before something else with even sharper teeth and claws could.

That would be the start of Marcellus' real future.

Growing up within the Empires, it wasn't long before Mar was old enough to start an apprenticeship to become a Gladiator. Mar shuffled under the guidance of a few mentors during his time as a trainee, learning valuable skills that'd help him survive against threats from both rival Empires and those from a city life he doesn't remember anything. Though the death of his last mentor, one of Lightning Empire's late Leaders, Abiola, struck the young caracal particularly hard. Having looked up to the cheetah like a father figure, it took Marcellus until his eventual acceptance as a full Gladiator before he could even start to move on with life.

A raid on Lightning Empire would change Marcellus' fate yet again though. Being caught between a group of Hunters and his Empire during as one of his first 'real' duties as a full Gladiator, what was supposed a small border skirmish turned near deadly for Mar as he was cut off from his patrol group and the only way back to the safety of his base camp. With no back up or an easy escape route without his fight ending against the claws of felines much bigger than, Marcellus did the only thing he could to ensure his survival: he ran.

Until now, he's been spending life on the far outreaches of the lands his paws had carried him to. He'd been content with living on his own, especially when the scents on the winds had told him the Empire life he'd known had grown more dangerous, deadly, and complicated with each passing season. Finding a life of solitude easier than constantly being jostled by the threat of death, Marcellus found a safe haven in a territory all of his own—but something's carried him back.

He's not sure why, but his paws have carried him back to the lands he called home before, though Lightning Empire isn't anything like it was either. New faces litter the Empires and the ones he knew before aren't anything but distant memories now. Sometimes, he wonders if anyone here even remembers the felines he called friends before?
