Description
I've been working on this plush every now and then during the past 18 months. Now I've finally got my very own cuddle-sized version of those cute little critters that keep visiting our garden in the summer.
Her name is Delilah - I tried to name her Molly or Colleen, but whenever I wanted to address her with either of these names, her preferred name would pop up in my mind instead. So I gave in.
She has a wingspan of about 38 cm / 15", and her body is about 34 cm / 13.4" long.

The pattern is based on the 3D model that I had created for my Hummingbird Hawk-Moth Pendant . I unwrapped the mesh in Blender, using the built-in color grid texture to check for distortions, and then printed the UV islands on paper so I could transfer them to the fabric.

The body is made from faux fur, while the wings, legs, antennae and proboscis are made from a slightly velvety fabric printed with a leather texture. The eyes use the back side of that latter fabric.
The legs and proboscis are reinforced with wires, and the wings are padded with a layer of felt.
I also colored the originally white and brown fabrics with thinned acrylic paint. The colors did not turn out exactly as planned, but I did not dare to apply them more thickly and sacrifice too much of the fluffiniess.
