Description
There may/may not be another mini break after the chuppy puppy only because I'm reworking two creatures, and the other two left may also need changes :'D Maybe I'll actually do more artwork in between, but for now, el chupacabra~Please note, this is not how I see all chupacabras and/or chupracabras in general. This is just a basic guide to how they work in my original story "Hunted".
layout and artwork created by me in PS
I shall name this dog BeauΒ

Omg the one in the bottom right with his spines retracted is adorable, I love his faaaaaace! DD
I also love how you gave such a detailed explanation about their history by using the older chupacabra design as the ancient and the newer sightings being based on dogs (I probably worded that sentence pretty badly, whoops :'3) I also love how you kept the three draining teeth! :3

Thank you! I can't really remember the last time I like drew an actual dog, so I'm glad he still looks like a cute one XD
Good, I mean they're basically opposite appearances so part of me wanted an explanation as to why that could be idk :'3 Since it would be pretty hard to have a lizard-puppy walking around town today without people asking questions...unless it's a crazy city like New York~

Oh yeah, he's absolutely precious! :3
Yeah New Yorkers would just think "Oh how cute, the owner made him a mini Godzilla~" XD

The only like basic mammal-like one is a dullahound, so they may be an exception, but all the others are part reptile, fish, or bird after all :'D

Thank you! I thought it might be an easy start to ultimately making reference sheets for the monster partners then one day move up to demons and actual characters for the story :3

It's always up in my noggin, but it's nice to actually have in front of me XD I still dread doing full-turnaround reference sheets though ughhh

its nice to get something tangible of your own work its great for perspective! Also I don't blame you for dreading the full-turnaround >.o but just think about how cool they'll all look!!Β

It's hard for me to imagine how "cool" they'll look because I put too much pressure on myself and know I can't understand perspective properly :'D

Thanks! I gotta research more about anatomy structures to see if it's actually possible, but I think maybe if their bones are hollow enough, they should be able to become retractable XD

Fennecfoxgal In reply to Kat-vs-Art [2015-10-07 02:47:05 +0000 UTC]
You're welcome. Β It could be possible because their is something similar to it in nature. Β The Hairy Frog orΒ Wolverine Frog has retractable claws that go through it's skin.

I did read up about a Japanese Otton Frog, idk if they're the same as the ones you've mentioned, but I'll also look up those two too :3
π: 0 β©: 1
Fennecfoxgal In reply to Kat-vs-Art [2015-10-07 03:04:29 +0000 UTC]
The Otton Frog only has it's claw on it's thumb while the Hairy/Wolverine Frog has claws on all of it's fingers. Β (Hairy/Wolverine Frog isΒ one species not two. I guess I should have used a slash first. My bad. :'D)

I decided to separate the fluffy and less-fluffy breeds for both the domestic canine and feline based monster partners c:
