Be careful when downloading, because this is...gigantic.Finished my promised tutorial on how to make 3-dimensional animal ears. The craft foam and tinfoil ones are okay but I wanted something a little more realistic.
Important note: The base ears should look a little too small--once you add the fur, they will appear much larger. So be careful to avoid making ears exactly the size you want the first time around.

Oh, and I totally take commissions on these little suckers, so if you run into a lot of trouble or just get lazy I'd be happy to whip some up for you. :3

It's just the usual acrylic paint right out of the bottle.

Quick question, what do you suggests for cut out shapes for pig ears?
Odd, I know but it's for my Halloween costume. c:

I guess it depends. For a more realistic pig, it'd still be the same shape...but since pig ears are so thin, I'd just go for the cone shape alone. I'd sandwich some floral wire between two layers of craft foam and use the wire to curve them instead.

thanks for the instructions. it helped A LOT! i made some just using brushed out yarn instead of the fur fabric; since i wanted it to match the color & texture of the tail i made (that took 50+ hours ;_

Gee, Katsu, I get the impression that you're really smart! It seems like you take a tooth pick, pipe cleaner and a soda cap and make raw magic out of it, really cool.

It's fur but fake...not real fur, though I suppose you could use that too. Faux fur is just made from plastic fiber, just like wigs.
