HA that's how it is with my nieces ..... Β do you remember what it was like when you first started drawing? I always did those step by step books, draw the circleΒ then another circle, except I was so bad at drawing circles back then....Β

Hah, you fool. You did not realize that she wanted the TV all along. You will not survive as a Big Brother if you fall for such tricks.

My sister wanted me to teach her how to draw but didn't care for it any more... like in three secs.

I would actually really like to learn how to draw but I think I will just do that on my own, since I don't want to annoy somebody with that xD.Β
It's by the way the same thing when somebody wants you to "Teach him / her how to play piano"...

I know how that goes. One of the kids i babysat tried to follow me with drawing and when he couldn't understand he just asked me for pictures instead xD

I sooo understand this!! My most recent victim *cough* I mean, student, has been my 5 year old niece; I try to make her interested in drawing, but in the end she just wants to play games or to color the things that I've already drawn, instead of learning. This leads me to believe that those kids that learn to draw/play the piano/whatever at like, 3, are -almost- all abused children, cause there's no way those brats stay focused for more than 5 minutes xD

I think a lot of people assume it's something that can quickly be taught by someone who's good at it.
They don't think of the time aspect in the learning process.
Most would probably like to BE good at drawing but unless they find the drawing itself fun they probably won't have the patience to BECOME it.
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious

Yep. The other day my friends saw a picture I drew and they said "That's really good how do you draw like that?" And it's not really about how as much as it is how much effort you have put into drawing.

When kids ask me to teach them, I tell them to do what I did as a kid, and copy Disney drawings over and over and then start to build some of the elements in Disney characters into their own unique drawings. I try to teach them how the follow the curves of the outlines by seeing what is there rather than what they think is there, and so on... and after 3 minutes, they just want to watch a Disney movie and not draw anymore XD

"I try to teach them how the follow the curves of the outlines by seeing what is there rather than what they think is there", (taking notes) Β thats i nteresting and I think I will try that.

I don't have siblings but sometimes people ask me to teach them. I feel awkward when doing it and what's even more embarassing is that nothing comes out well. My drawings always happen to look like shit when I'm feeling watched.
