Another Link fanart - Battle in the Water Temple9 x 12 inches on bristol board. Brown ink and watercolor.
I feel too tight right now with my art. To loosen up, I do something fun, like fanart. That way I'm not thinking about the result, just having fun drawing/painting. I am playing Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past right now. Funny, I drew him with OoT styling. Oh well.

A common scene, Link running. If you think about it, that is all he does.
This evokes image of running up Death Mountain as kid Link, praying to God I won't die on the way up there.
Artwise, the look and feel of this is perfect. The watercolor is amazing. I can only hope to get your level one day.

I am sorry you are having trouble right now. This piece I did with brown ink. Sometimes black ink looks to harsh. So I like to use brown ink, it is softer and warmer. I used a brush, (it helps get the really thick marks) but a regular pen would work fine too.
Is that your trouble? Or is it something else I can help with?

That's exactly my problem :~~ I can't do the lines right yet, I'm doing a pin-up (a well behaved one!

If you want to line with a darker watercolor, try this. Say the skin color. You made skin color right, for the dark line, add some brown to it.
The way I line sometimes is to use waterproof ink. So before I paint, I ink the outline. Since it is waterproof, the watercolor will not move the ink. It must be waterproof! I made that mistake before.

Seeing this brings a little happiness to my day. Thank you! It reminds me very much of the drawings they had in the instruction booklet for Zelda I + II. I used to stare at those for hours. This is a lot like that style, so it brings me back, except...well, this time the cartoons are drawn well!
