Y’know, I haven’t done much in the way of full-fledged Photoshop art, so I decided to give it a whirl. I’m such a novice at it right now, though, that this took me waaaay longer than if I had just done the whole thing in colored pencils. Although I did use colored pencils for the clouds, smoke, and airborne dust.Related content

It was just something I thought to add to the tank to make the art a bit more interesting. MOTHER takes place in the U.S., so naturally, it's an American flag, but it's also a sort of "alternate dimension" America from what we know, so I threw in the MOTHER Earth as an addition.

That's what I used to think happened in the game, what with the other characters looking fried and Lloyd saying, "Oh shoot! I missed!" and all. But then I played MOTHER 1+2 and found that in Japanese, what he says is closer to: "Damn! I'm too late!" That suggests it was R7038 that fried the kids, not Lloyd.

Damn, this picture says a lot: Teddy has a shattered leg (And according to the Japanese version, he won't survive ). And Ninten and Ana are with their hands together, just AFTER their dance and love confession! (Not fair, Itoi ). Gosh, I just imagined Ninten, gravely wounded, crawling to where Ana is lying and he just reaches to take her hand. FUCK, SO MANY FEEELS!!!

Why does no one ever bring up the fact Lloyd somehow got a tank?

In the original Japanese release, the killbots were vulnerable to fleas, reducing their Attack.
Waiting out 255 turns would have the battle end in a draw, and completely mess the scripting.

I find it funny as heck that R7038 can't be killed by anything (And doing so caused the game to hang, believe it or not), and lloyd's tank kills it. Not even EVE is capable of killing him in the game (I tried bringing her to the scene and she only does 1 damage as well.) Kinda cool how they made this enemy! Fav'd by me.

Well, on second thought, they're kinda pointless to the game's plot, but here it goes - How the **** did Lloyd get that particular tank, and (if it's from that pilot in the Yucca Desert, AFTER he repaired it) how'd he get it up to Mt. Itoi without causing a scene from Youngtown to Ellay? (I know... but that's something that's been bugging me since I've first gotten that far in the game.) and this is off subject, (and please don't think I'm nagging, because that's not my intent; even though I am legitimately curious) how's the Mother novel translation coming along?

I always pictured it something like this: the desert pilot gave up on his tank entirely, believing it to be completely busted, but without testing the damage thoroughly; so, going by a hunch, Lloyd returns to the desert and discovers the tank is still salvageable, so he drives what's left of it someplace where he can make repairs and improvements. I don't know how he got through Easter and Valentine without making a ruckus, but maybe there are alternate routes the game map doesn't accommodate.
Of course, there's also a suspension of disbelief there in that for all that to happen before the scene in the hut, Ninten, Anna, and Teddy must have been lost in those mountain caves at least a week or so. Oh well.
I've had to put the novel aside to focus on other things, but I'll return to it soon enough for the final draft.
