Wow, that's amazing! If those birds were puffins or razorbills, the location would strongly remind me of the coast of the Hebrides. Then again I do think about them a lot. And I'm so impressed with the amount of detail and '3D'-ness of the angel that you've achieved with watercolors. I'm so jealous .

lol this is my second fave on your gallery.. I, once more, love this painting... It is so peaceful... She reminds me of a little baby: innocent and not worried. You probably already know it, and heard it hundred of times: you're very gifted !

This is exquisite. Her skin almost, but not quite, echoes the look of the birds, and makes one think that she isn't so different, in essence, from them. Which is what it would be, for anyone whose "wish for wings that work" was fulfilled (to evoke Opus).
I'm glad you didn't tag her as an "angel." That a winged human(oid) could be this-worldly, however exotic, is what I like to see in such art. Not supernatural, but Homo pterylae, very much part of nature's continuum.
I think I'll be reducing this full-size view by half to get the full effect, as it doesn't bring in the full panorama unless you have a widescreen monitor. Hope you don't mind my using this as one of my personal wallpaper images. If you make this into a print, I'd like to buy one.

No problem, any exposure is good exposure. And I do sell prints, so if you want to email me, feel free (kenmeyerjr@comcast.net). This is probably one of the best things I have done, and I did purposely make her as close in coloration to the birds as possible, to make it seem like she was at home, so to speak.

Whoops, not by half, but to 1024 pixels wide. (And I would never crop this image! Certainly not without your permission.) ... I wish we could edit comments. *sigh*
Favorited, as well! I'll refer members of the Pteraphiles Yahoo! Group (see link on my page) to see this and your lovely Dawnstar.

its beautiful! I love her alabaster skin and the seagulls just hanging out... almost watching over her as she sleeps. looks like you spent a lot of time on it.

Yeah, I certainly did (though it did go relatively quickly...probably because the work could be easily 'segmentted, such as doing some birds, the woman, some rocks, etc etc). It is one of the best things I have done, I think, thanks!
