So ... everytime I go to my grandparents lake, I get totally gay for Andalites. It must have something to do with surfacing memories of my sordid adolescence. Anyway, I pretty much drew all of these there, except for the one of Mertil and Lily, which is just there to fill up space.Oh, poor Ax. Random Chick just can't keep her hands offa you, can she? At least he's showing a little affection back for once. Maybe she's grown on him. Meanwhile, Mertil's all like, "dude, this isn't so bad. See?" Losing his tail definitely made him cuddlier.

my new scanner. It takes some fiddlin', but it's much better than my old one. I still haven't figured how to get decent sketches from it, but it scans inking like nobody's damn business. Look! Look at how pretty it is!Andalites belong to K.A. Applegate.

According to the book, it was when his ship crashed on Earth. It got severed in the crash or something obscure like that. Poor baby.
Anyway, according to Andalite culture this effectively neuters him ... he's got no social standing of any kind anymore, and his family would be dishonored if he ever showed his face in public, blah blah blah. So since everyone figures he's dead and he gets super-post-humous warrior honor, he's just going to quietly stay on earth forever and ever and save everyone the bother. Also ... Andalites are dicks, but Mertil's not anymore since losing his tail made him all humble.
That's all canon, I kid you not. The only thing I made up was the creepy little girl in green tights.

hehehe awesome. I remembering seeing a bunch of animorph books showing up in my late teens (shows how old _I_ am) but I just never got a chance to start picking them up and reading. (that and I was getting to that point where if I didn't have a job and cash I couldn't get what I wanted instead of bugging parents to get them for me cuz I'm all in schoooool and stuff.)
Heh seems like I'm all grown up now and working for the things I want. But hey, those books like like they should be on my list now.

heh ... just don't read too far. There's fifty-six books or so, and somewhere past book 30-something they start royally sucking, lose all hope of character development and continuity, and there are very few worth reading after that (book 40 is Mertil's). But they are a guilty pleasure, I'll tell you
Don't bother with the series ending. Just don't. But the read the Chronicles (Andalite and Hork-Bajir for sure, Visser and Ellimist if you feel like it). They serve to fill in a lot of the blanks of what went on in the galaxy before th Animorphs series started, and they're quite good, especially the Andalites one.
Mertil is pretty passive. It's hard to say how much, because he got like three lines and zero personality in the book. It was really more about his buddy Gafinilan, who is grouchy and cantankerous but very awesome because they were best bros back home and he doesn't see Mertil as any different without a tail. There were a couple subliminal messages about handicaps and tolerance and possibly even homosexuality in that one. It was rad.

hehehe awesome. Sounds like I do need these on my list as a guilty pleasure. (I have entirely too few of those it seems.) Gargoyles comic books back when marvel was making them would be another guilty pleasure of mine, however I can't Find my old ones anymore now that I learned there's new and better ones. So yes. Guilty pleasures? Check.

Maybe this girl just got bored of human guys. Maybe she just fell in love. Maybe she just likes tormenting him and making him squirm and do that cute thing with his eyebrows. THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW.
