OOOOOOOOOoooooo. I avoided the new TMNT partially because I grew up with the original, and partially because it went weird around the time I hit college, I was worried the new series would still go weird. But Splinter's design does look awesome. I'm intrigued. dare I hope that the series grew up in the way it should have? You make me intrigued to check it out.

This new show has more callbacks to the 80s cartoon than any other I've seen. I HIGHLY suggest you check it out... it takes some getting used to but it so much fun

I'm a turtle fan from way, way back (as in, I have the first comic books - all of them) when it was a gritty 'turtles trained to assassinate' deal. Splinter was supposed to look raggety, but I have to say - I really like the new cartoon's version. And I suspect the creators KEPT the original intent without coming out right with it (he's seen putting the turtles IN the ooze when they were babies in the opening, or it seems that way so). But yes, those EARS, that attitude - oddly - sexy - weirdly.

Man, I'm so glad you think so too! My reaction was, "Splinter is... hot? Splinter is hot? He's always been the grizzled old mentor-figure. Can this be a thing?" This was the first time I'd even considered the possibility. I had to sit down and think about it. But it's official: Splinter has upgraded to Justin from "Secret of Nimh" level rat-hotness
But yes, he's beautiful in that show. I had so much fun inking the patterns in his fur.
